1850 Dark Eldar/Harlequin Ynnari Force

Hi all,

I have been playing 40k for about two years now and love playing my first army Dark Eldar. I was always interested in playing Harlequins because of the narrative, but was intimidated to start a completely new force with the list restrictions and the difficulty of the army. With the release of Fracture of Biel-Tan, I can now build up my Harlequin force by running them with my Dark Eldar in a Reborn Warhost detachment. I have recently started building my Harlequins so I would appreciate any advice the community could provide so I collect the proper models.

The idea behind the list is to have the Harlequins rush the opponent in the Starweavers with the Dark Eldar following in close behind laying down lots of firepower. The mobility should hopefully allow the army to position and prioritize enemy targets. The army has very little sustain, but as an alpha-strike army, it will hopefully have enough bite to defeat its opponents or run away and grab objectives. The ability to soul burst with lots of firepower should help as well.

Narrative
The Kabal of the Immortal Abyss is an ancient house with a lineage stretching before the time of the fall. The Kabal was left relatively unscathed by the rise of Vect, and quickly swore fealty to the supreme overlord of the Dark City. Its vast wealth and pocket realm relatively safe from Vects machinations due to a pact forged with the Masque of the Midnight Sorrow. With the rise of Ynnead, the Masque has called on the Kabal of the Immortal Abyss to wage war along side it. With every action the Kabal takes, its risk invoking Vects wrath and losing its tenuous place in Commorragh.

My local club tends to play somewhat competitive, so it would be great to see this list optimized. I’m sure I will also be able to switch stuff out and add fun units like the Solitaire or the Triumvirate of Ynnead for more casual games. Thanks for reading!

I would drop the DL on the raiders, pick up some night shields, drop the skyweavers, and pick up some Reavers with CC.

What is the purpose of the first RWH? It seems that you would be better off using a DE CAD so that you have ObSec.

You are also going full Mech list, when troops embarked on transports will not be able to benefit from the PfD.

I would recommend at least maxing out your FA slots with Reavers/Scourges/Beastpacks so that you can soulburst.

You are also not picking up some Harlie ICs, which give cheap ICs with access to psykic powers (something that DE are lacking).

I thought the Kabilites could soulburst from an open top, but it seems you cant soul burst from any vehicle. I could drop the splinter racks get enhanced sails and drop them off to support the harlies. It would have to be on turn 2 depending on how far they go. Or they could be mid-range and shoot with night shields. Any viability there?

Good point about having more FA slots. Its a bit different from what I was thinking but I could bring more raiders and scourges (already have the models). If the raiders are de-emphasized, I'll see how many elites i can fit with the left over points after adding some more fast attack.

I'll post and update with a tweak from my original and that is more FA optimized.

I would stay away from any upgrade to the warrior boats. Even stock they can move 30" in a turn, and since you set up 12" up the board regardless, you dont need any more movement.

Max out those FA slots with Scourges (who can double shoot when they DS and blast a tank) or Reavers/Beastpacks (who can move forward when a transport beside them gets wrecked). Otherwise vanilla DE is better than Ynnari, if simply for ObSec.

The Triumvirate of Ynnead is pretty amazing to use, while a significant portion of people whine about it being 625 points, the ONLY character not worth it's value is the visarch.

however if your adamant on not using it then i'd suggest you listen to these fellows. if i were you i'd remove both ravagers, and look to replace it. they are very sub-par for what you're asking it to do. unless you remove the DL and just go straight Anti-infantry. those disintegrator cannons will shred any MEQ's
