| Wait wat. 8th game is 60-90 min, 7th is 1.5h... so 90 min. So about 15 min shorter, what shall I do with all this excess time!? Oh darn, It took me litteraly this long not to think the flyers will be hard to use. But without any fireing angles they can just fire everywhere... Nice to be on the same train as you guys about a week later :p Hmm, WWP gone... guess that means in the Codex aswell. Since i guess they've tried with and without codex if they'll drop soon. Otherwise that's one weird thing to specify. He says Drazhan gives +1 attack, not +1 to attack. Is this what he said or just the shotcomming of the document ? Hmm, they both place DE as 2nd best army. But then I can't be smug to my friends when i beat them anymore :/ I must concur, it was a good read. Thanks for the link! | |

| For an on the spot answer I thought they did just fine. It's not fair to look at the speed of the game by using a single example. And then they also explain that sure that unit will take that long to shoot, if that's how you use them.
I didn't read the full thing but it seems to reiterate most of the previously leaked stuff and clarify some of the rules. Which I'm cool with. Better that they did this than to not do it. Shows that they're trying to be active with the community

| Shows that they're still shilling is more like it.
At any rate, this doesn't really do much other than solidify some of the fears I had about the new edition going into the rest of the year with codexes and whatnot. No WWP, no firing arcs, no additional rules coming, just basically more of what we all already know.

| Oh my god I just realized something. They did say WWP was no more. But they didn't say anything about the Soul Trap. I guess that confirms it, Soul Trap will return 100% | |

| Looking for confirmation on this please...
Flyers are -1 to hit if they advance? So a venom would be -2 to hit due to their flicker field? Or do flyers that advance just have a 5+ invul? Which our raiders already have.
If you advance you can fire assault weapons at -1 to hit penalty?
A flyer classes heavy weapons as assault meaning a flyer can advance and fire all its weapons? A non flyer vehicle cant advance and fire heavy weapons?
Where does this leave the venoms rapid fire weapons? Are they also classed as assault for the purpose of being able to advance and fire?
I am just very curious about how raiders/venoms will operate in 8th and what the differences between the two will be. Aside from the stats I mean.
Raiders are harder to kill while a venom is harder to hit?

| I'm sorry if this sounds rude but for the sake of clarification almost none of what you said is right.
Flyers do not give your enemy minus 1 to hit when they advance. Flyers do not give the enemy a minus 1 to hit unless the "hard to hit" rule is on their datasheet. Advancing does not give a 5+ invuln save (that is the jink special rule and is not universal, it must be listed on the datasheet)
You may fire after advancing with a -1 penalty yes.
Flyers do not treat heavy weapons as assault. The weapons options for our vehicles expressly state on their datasheet that their type is changed to assault. This is a weapon by weapon basis. Splinter cannons remain rapid fire 3.

| Right ok...please bear with me I will make mistakes as I havent actually had the chance to read the rules.
So would you be able to help me a bit more?
Have you found out how we compare to other factions similar type units? Specifically our raiders, venoms and reavers.
Our raiders have the 5+ invul shooting shield built in and the benefit of the weapon changing from heavy to assault it so that it avoids a -1 to hit after moving?
Our reavers do not have any form of jink/invul save at all?
Our venom has the same 5+ invul with the -1 to hit as well.
So how do we compare to other factions bikes? From what I have seen the Harlequin units that are similar have a better 4+ invul and also a -1 modifier to hit?

| And while there is defo a -1 to hit pen for shooting after advancing...units can only fire assault weapons after advancing unless otherwise stated? | |

| How raiders/venoms are about the same of Harlequin vehicles.
Almost everything lost Jink other than a few units. Most Fliers have a "Hard to hit rule" and some have hover (it makes them just a basic Fly unit at that point) These type of special rules normally just give a -1 to hit.
Eldar and Necrons has ways to mitigate the damage rather than being harder to hit, Necrons is one of the strongest (but easily work around).
Our Reavers did loose the old way of survival and got 2 wounds instead, you can also pick your drugs (cant pick same drug twice unless you already picked each one once) so you can give me T5 if you really wanted. But they also can move 16" and charge, or 16 and shoot, or 16" + advance 8" (they adcance 8" its there special rule) and still fire with -1 to hit (so 4+). They had a roll swap. Our bikes are fast moving units that do 1 of 2 times (you need to pick what you want via Drugs and Gear) they can either be a tie up nuisance unit, or a highly mobile shooting unit.
DA's bike are the best, followed by Harlequins in comparison.
All units in the game can Move and fire heavy weapons at -1 to hit, units can also Advance and fire assault weapons at -1 to hit.
Some datasheets will give some units special rules to ignore the -1 (Like raiders and dark lances).
Edit: How we compare to other factions? Well its still early to tell but its looking like we are mid to top tier levels now.
DA's are looking just as strong as they where before and BA's also are extremely dangerous, Harlequins might be the best Eldar Race tho.
Necrons and Tau are Rock, Paper, Scissors still, you either table them or they table you (from what i've seen).

| So in terms of working out how well we compare in 8th...we just ended up being fast.
Our invul saves seem to be average as well as our basic saves
Our toughness seems to be low...Reavers can be enhanced
Modifiers to hit us only exist on the Venom, Razorwing and Voidraven
It seems our main benefit comes when using advance. Reavers seem to advance 2" further than Eldar equivalent and Raiders can fire a heavy weapon when they advance.

| We do a lot of damage tho and we have PFP, PF 6+++ IS one of the better saves in game IMO.
We get our armor now mostly, and a 6+++ always, How vehicles are good just like everyones but we are open topped, with better guns than most armies can have in open top.

| I apologise for all the questions...
What are the rules when disembarking from a transport that is in close combat?
What are your opinions so far on how you intend to use our transports? Will they remain gun boats or will they be charging with them to soak up overwatch?

| I guess 6+ is an armour save. 6++ is an invulnurable save. And 6+++ is Power from pain. That´s on top of any armour or Inv save and has to be done AFTER you determine how much damage a weapon does. IIRC | |

| 6+++ means you can take that save even from mortal wounds.. pretty much you will ALWAYS have that save. | |

| Does either the Raider or the Venom have PFP?
Which of our units are most likely to benefit from two saves?
Mandrakes have a 5+ invul don't they as well as PFP...so do the Haemonclulous nad wracks....all almost all Coven units?

| mandrakes have a 5++ and 6+++ and -1 to hit. grots have a 5++ and 6+++. Sadly our vehicles don´t have a +++ save. But a 5++ is great too I guess. | |

| I think overall our saves are worse in 8th ed.
With PFP 6+ FNP kicks in sooner but never goes to 5+ No more jink saves and our invul saves on those units are all worse than our cousins
So in 8th we are more durable on turn 1 but less on turn 3 and our bikes, raiders, venoms, ravagers...you name it, none are as durable as our cousins vehicles
Don't get me wrong. I have never expected dark elder to be durable...but our saves are not better in 8th.

| But we actually get our saves most of the time now, Bolters and many other weapons lost AP. And some weapons that do have -1AP that means we still get a 6+ or for incubi a 4+ save.
ALso all HQ's of ours have invuls, Lilith/succubus has a 3++/4++/6+++, Archon a shadowfield still, Urien/Haemonculus are 4++/5++/6+++
IC cant be targets no where near as easily now as well.
After playing a few game, i can tell we are much more survivable.

| Thats good to hear...how are we faring against Mechanised armies?
Poison is better in that it can damage vehicles but its still down as the joint weakest weapon against them.
Bolters and lasguns wounding our vehicles on a 5+ means we are at a disadvantage.
