| Look who the cat dragged in. WB. :-) I liked the article. I think DE now will be much more fun than before. | |

| Welcome back! Glad to have you back here. Just don't look into the rant thread, I'm trying to contain the massive amounts of negativity in there. Just leftovers from the disjunction. | |

| Hey guys, thanks! I've been catching up in the tactics thread and in the general and its nice to see you guys excited about the new edition as well. However, some of the things that people seem concerned about in tactics is a little.. interesting. Like what to equip on unit leaders.
I wrote this article for SW: Armada, but the same thing carries over to this game. The article is called Luxury upgrades: http://lkhero.blogspot.com/2015/12/armada-luxury-upgrades.html
Anyways, back to DE. So yeah, they seem pretty good, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to convert the entire army to Ynnari because I think Strength from Death has incredible synergy with DE in general. Sure, you need to be out of your vehicle, but the potential to shoot twice a turn with Blasterborn or a full unit of Warriors on a disembark is just too good.
And the synergy with multiple attack phases with the Solitaire.. yum.
Another sleeper unit that I really like before our CW cousins catch on is the Hemlock. Yes, you know that useless ass unit that we never built back in 6th? Well.. the Hemlock is arguably one of the best fighters in the game right now IMO. If I was to take one, I think I'll take that one. The effectiveness of it doesn't degrade as it takes damage (BS doesn't matter when you auto-hit), it averages 8 damage at S10 AP-4, and you can stack -2 to hit on that thing with Conceal/Reveal.
Or, you can use it in conjunction with DE's leadership shennigans, PGL/Horrify/Mindshock for -3 Ld. Kinda absurd.

| Yeah, must admit that the unopened Crimson Hunter/Hemlock box that had been earmarked for a Crimson Hunter is 7e is very likely to turn into a Hemlock for 8th. | |

| So, what do you guys think about flyers in the new edition? I don't think we'll see a lot of them because of their price. | |

| Our Razorwing is one of the few-ish units that can take the awesome Dissie Cannon. I can see that doing some damage.
Not sure about the tried-and-true splinter cannon though. Its not the auto-take it was last edition.

SC is probably the biggest luxury upgrade there is. Right now if you buy it, it's 3 more shots at 36", or 6 shots at 18". The free weapon you have in addition to the one SC you buy is 2 shots of Rapid-fire, giving you 5 shots at 24", 1 shot less than the SC upgrade but at a loss of 12" range. Within 18", you get 12 shots with double SCs but 8 shots without. Only when you close to 12" range do you get 10 shots, which is still a bit less than double SCs but you're 6" closer. Dissies being 10 points more expensive gives me a bit of pause. If it was an even 20 point trade then I would strongly consider it, but I find it difficult enough to balance the lance vs. poison ratio without having to account for the price point being worth it. I'll probably end up writing a bit more tonight on some further aspects of playing Ynnari using DE primary, and their upgrade options: - MSU for extra Soulburst - Shock Prows and PGL - Blast pistols

| Rapid Fire 3 so six shots at 18". Rapid fire doubles your shots rather than adding one (beware storm bolters). Overall the cannon is better on infantry but weaker on vehicles than it used to be. | |

| I think choosing to go either double cannon or single on venoms is going to be dependent upon whether you choose to spam them or not. There is only a 5 point difference between 5 venoms with double cannons versus 6 venoms with the TLSR and SC. The output of shots is exactly the same while the 6 venoms benefit from having an additional model/more total wounds. | |
