Rapid Fire Tournament list 1750 points

I'm off to Rapid Fire in Stirling this weekend, 5 games at 1750 points over 2 days. I've been advocating the use of Baron/Hellions lists for long enough and took mine to ToS a couple of weeks ago. However I really feel I needed more long range AT in the list and I have decided to change things about a bit for this one. Hellions are out and I have came up with this.

Basically it's an alpha strike and mop up list. The Baron is there to help out with getting first turn.
11 DL and 11 blaster shots on 11 platforms all of which should be able to hit on 1st turn, if required. The aim is to get tanks suppressed or destroyed as soon as possible. Then get any infantry out of transports and into line of fire for the venoms and then assaulted by wyches and beasts. Sounds simple enough when you say it quickly.
It's low on troop count, only 29 models, so it's a case of securing 1 objective and contesting the rest in objective games. KP's will be a bit of a challenge with 21 in the list so the aim here will be to wipe out the enemy.

So there it is, still not quite decided whether to go with this or revert to my Baron/hellions list. Any ideas

A thought I'm having is adjusting Wych numbers to balance them a bit more - yeah, the big one is getting FNP and you want to maximize the use of those points, but at the same time the Aggie in the smaller squad will dramatically increase their ability to help versus a variety of units as opposed to being fairly tarpit and anti-mech focused.

Thats a thought. ALthough I would probably prefer to transfer over a normal wych and give her HWG's. It would balance the squads up number wise and still keep the aggy with the FnP unit.
Another idea would be to drop the wracks and use their points to boost the wyches numbers in the smaller squad, might be worth a shout.

How serious is the tournament - I think a weaker army with more experience and familiarity behind it is better than a "better" army with less familiarity and confidence. You should get in some play time with the new list before you totally toss yourself into the deep end.

Right, I see your point about the wyches, I had misread it first time. It makes sense to have both units balanced, perhaps at 7 each with HWG's. Should be easy enough to do points wise.

You are hitting my thoughts on this list right on the head there. Although I have used all the elements in it whilst working on my hellion list, I have never ran them all together, and the familiarity of the hellions is appealling.
The tournament is a fairly local event, 34 players, good standard and one of my regular events. I'd like to do well in it. There will be all the usual suspects at it, GK's SW's, Bangles and IG, so it's competitive.

What is sathonyx doing for you?

Sathonyx helps with getting 1st turn, provides a PGL to assist the beasts assault into cover, provides stealth to any unit he is with (most likely the beasts), pain token carrier.

Out of these it is probably his ability to help in getting to go 1st that is the most important. For an army built around alpha strike I much prefer him in this regard to Vect.
His PGL and stealth cannot be underestimated in regard to the beast unit, helps them get across the board and then helps them into assault. Finally he can be used (at a stretch) to pass PT's across the army Ie, wracks to the 2nd wych unit.

However the more I dwell on it the more I think I'm going to end up with the tried and trusted Hellion list that I took to ToS.
