| So for those who may not be aware, Electropriests (the fulgurite brand with staves) are in this edition. They throw out mortal wounds like Lucius pitching out candy to unsuspecting children. And if they manage to kill a unit in close combat, they become so durable that they feel almost impossible to kill. I get the feeling like we'll be seeing a lot of these guys on the tables in Mechanicus armies. If you do manage to see them, don't let them get close, shoot the ever living hell out of them from range.
Why you ask?
Well.. if they charge you, they roll a d6 for just about every model in the unit. For each 6 rolled, it causes a mortal wound. They've got a few attacks at decent strength and AP and do a whopping D3 damage a hit.. plus.. if they roll a 6 to wound, they just do D3 mortal wounds instead.
Their invuln save and associated feel no pain makes them pretty damn resilient in close combat and their main weaknesses can be controlled decently with stratagems (especially that counter attack one, it can be serious game changing.)

| Well before they dished out 3-4 S4 auto-hits per model at I10 with right Canticle. Not exactly friendly for DE units. There was a funny moment when they wiped Harlie unit before they even got to swing.
They were very niche and fragile however, and nobody took em.

| Well whyches could be an answer no ? They can charge from a longue distance and dont care about high Ap. Wracks could be a solution too maybe | |

| Mortal Wounds ignore invul, Wyches have high chance to just die. Dont know how it is 8th, but they were really squishy in 7th.
T3 5+ 1w and slow. Mechanicus have no transports. Just shoot em. This is a typical counter-assault unit. They hang around some important thing that you want to charge and assault after you.

| Good to know. Seems like a perfect target for cheap kabalite spliter rifles. | |

| The big survivability thing they get is that they start off with a 5+ invuln and 5+ FNP (sort of). But if they kill a unit in melee, their invuln is upgraded to a 3+ for the rest of the battle and of course.. they maintain their FNP. | |

| I ran into this in a game. I thought I was screening a more important unit with a throwaway unit. Big mistake.
Also, the other type with 12" s5, 6's cause two additional hits is NASTY. They also go up to a 3++ if they kill something.
My theory on admech right now is to just shoot them from range. Stay out of range of their infantry shooting, absorb their walker shooing until their walkers are dead, and then assault later when odds are in your favor. Their dragoons die easily to blasters and lances as well.
We are faor more mobile than they are.

| They are my second army.
Mechanicus have morale problem and very limited and expensive ways to somewhat help with that. If the guy know whats he is doing - he will bring Onager Dunecrawlers with Icarus Array. That thing mulches skimmers to bloody shreds and it will do so from distance. Priority number 1.
Also beware big funny Robots. They are not fun up close.
