| So that was 2012, eh? The world actually ended and we are all now living in an alternate reality? Meh. 2013 will start off with the re-vamped Dark Angels greeting us on the tabletop, prancing about in their fancy robes and ugly new Landspeeders. You all need to greet them with fully painted armies, you know you do. The pride of Commorragh depends upon it! So look at your armies and decide what will serve you best to kick them in their capes, then wet your paint brushes and get busy! Sign yourselves up, make a vow about what you are going to build/paint/convert during the month of January, and then show us your progress with a picture (we really operate on the honour system, but pics are such great motivators). Denizens and their vows for the month of January (completed in purple): ____________________________________________________________________
Hess - finish 1 Venom, 20 (now 22) warriors, 2 Raiders.
Bookkeeper - assemble 5 Blasterborn and their Venom, 10 Wyches and their Raider, and 1 Razorwing Fighter.
Evil Space Elves - paint 1 Dracon, 1 Succubus, and 1 Archon, plus try to scratch build something DE-related. Also paint some old Crimson Fists, 2 Drop Pods and 5 Terminators. A 'light' month indeed!
Count Adhemar - 5 Khymerae, 1 Clawed Fiend, and 2 more Cold One Beastmasters. Possibly a Raider and a Venom as well.
helvexis - start some Dark Angels.
Cavash - a unit of dedicated, anti-DA Blasterborn.
Average Joe - paint 1 Cronos Parasite Engine and 5 of 10 Hellions (1 done), assemble and paint 1 Razorwing. Also assemble and paint his son's Seraphicus, DA Drop Pod, and DA Rhino.
Azdrubael - paint 10 Wyches and 4 Venoms.
Lord Clazaryn - paint a full squad of Warriors.

| I'd like to join in on the monthly vow.
Got a tournament coming up the 23-24 february on 1650 pts. I recently acquired my Dark Eldar so I'm a bit behind and in a hurry.
For january I need to finish: Venom (already started a bit) 20 warriors (halfway there) 2 Raiders
It's quite a tough schedule as I'm already promised away 2 weekends, but looking forward to having it all fully painted at the end of februrary.

| Count me in. I had actually despaired that I was going to be stuck with Space Marines for our summer campaign, but my family bought me a vast number of evil space elves for Christmas.
For January, it's all about assembly. Specifically, I'll get the following assembled:
- 5 Blasterborn and their Venom - 10 Wyches and their Raider - Razorwing Fighter

| I'm keeping it light as it's going to be a VERY busy month at work. For January: Paint my gifts from Eye of Error: -Dracon -Succubus -Archon [EDIT]: I am also going to try to scratch build something DE related and (hopefully ) cool. I'm going to put a topic post up in the Painting and Modeling section after I figure out what builds I am going to try to do. I'm dusting off my very old (2001) Crimson Fists army for some campaign gaming and plan to paint these items to "update" my old beakies: -Drop Pod -Drop Pod 5 Terminators

-Drop Pod -Drop Pod 5 Terminators Good luck with the Drop Pods. I hate painting those bloody things! For myself, I'm aiming to expand my Beastmaster unit to full size with the addition of 5 Khymerae, a Clawed Fiend (using an old Ambull model) and 2 more Cold One Beastmasters. After that, hopefully another Raider and a Venom (time permitting). EDIT: Have tracked down a few more old metal Tyranid Ripper models on eBay so I'm scrapping the Clawed Fiend and adding two more Razorwing Flocks instead.

| Ok...
My stuff: Cronos Parasite Engine painted Razorwing assembled and painted 5 of 10 Hellions painted
My son's DA: Seraphicus assembled and painted Drop pod assembled and painted Rhino painted
I'm a bit horrified at the prospect of buying the new DA stuff. It's going to take me several months just to buy what I know he'll want/need.

| Joe, you let your son play DA??? I managed to steer mine into CWE, so I didn't have to disown him at game nights And then there's heretic heathen helvexis with his own DA! Where did I put that #5 agoniser? This month is off to a great start already, keep those vows coming folks! | |

It's his first foray into 40k. I was thankful from a dad introducing his 14 year old son to the game perspective that he took an interest into an easier to learn and forgiving army. We started a game last night and between him constantly texting and posting on his cell phone and my rules confusion I thought we'd never finish. Actually we haven't, we are in the bottom of the 5th. I'll try to "borrow" one of my children's digital cameras for some update photos on my modelling and painting progress.

| That sounds like me trying to "borrow" of one of our computers at home so I can mod this forum. You are right, it is good for them to get involved in any way. My son is 15 and has played 40K for about 4 years. Not too often, but regularly enough to be a fairly decent player. He started off with the Battle for Macragge muh-reenz, but soon found eldar to be much more interesting and challenging. The gaming was good for him, he hated GW stores and was the only kid in our local gaming club. Interacting with mature adults was a good experience for him, and he has never been one to get distracted by his cell phone (unlike his younger sister). His interest in 40K has waned, quite naturally as computer games and other teen interests take hold, right after I put together a Tau army from Craigslist for him He remains in touch with 40K, however, and loves board/tabletop gaming in general, so I am sure that he will return at some point. - helvexis wrote:

| I'll actually join in this now. I vow to complete a full squad of Kabalite Warriors. Should be fun! Edit: Sadly until my friend gives back my camera, we're stuck with my phone. But here the warriors, WIP, primed and ready for paint. Edit 2: Finished, well sort of. I left the Sybarite's banner black because I might enter him in a painting comp and thus will want to spend some time on it. Otherwise they're all done. The highlighting doesn't look very smooth in the photos...

| Update:
Finished models - Seraphicus Rhino Cronos
WIP - Drop Pod Razorwing Hellions
Did anyone putting the Razorwing together have a terrible time gluing the bottom of the hull to the top? It was an absolute fail for me. I couldn't get anything close to a decent fit and have settled on green stuffing the worst of the gaps and hiding the bottom of the model from curious eyes.
No pictures yet as apparently the camera lacks a memory card whatever that is.

| I went all out and finished not just yet 20, but 22 warriors (4 special weapons instead of 2). More pictures are available here: my project log | |

| Custom Succubus from Eye of Error painted: I thought this would be a Hekatrix or Dracon at first, but after swapping out the banner, blast pistol, and power weapon for a venom blade it looked more like a Succubus to me. | |

| Looks great :-). The base is very neat. Might borrow the idea of using raider bits for my archon base | |

| Got the Dracon/Hekatrix done today. I plan on using him much more as a Hekatrix. I swapped out the agonizer and blast pistol for a splinter pistol/venom blade. I've been meaning to paint up a hekatrix with the venom blade/PGL anyways Now onto that Archon. A hat trick of gifts from Eye of Error! | |

| Finished the first Raider and my Venom. Accidently got sidetracked and painted my Reavers instead of the 2nd Raider, so for the rest of the week I'll dedicate to the 2nd Raider. Raider: Venom: | |

| Nice work to those of you that've got photos up so far!
I decided that it would be a great idea to change the colour scheme for my Trueborn halfway through painting them from red to Bleached Bone!... how foolish. I still have some time, I should get them done. (I might have started a little late on painting them, but I'm determined to achieve this vow for the first time in a long while!)

| Finished up the last raider for the monthly vow, plus some other models as well -- Guess february won't be as stressful before the tournament at the end of february. (Apoligies for the poor image, taken with a cellphone. Will upload proper picture later). | |
