| So, this post showed up today on Warhammer Community:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/07/05/your-codex-is-coming-july-5gw-homepage-post-1/
The tidbit of interest is that about 10 codices will be released prior to Christmas.
The question is, will ours be among them?
and will all Aeldari be rolled into one codex?
Also, apparently Death Guard are getting their own codex.
Though, I suppose that it shouldn't be too suprising that the first two are the armies from the starter set.

| I'm very excited for this!
Pros: - webway portal strategem hopefully? - subfactions are a cool concept - faction maelstrom cards will make us feel fluffier I hope
Cons: I'm confident we won't get one until late into next year. They are releasing mostly chaos and imperium first

| As they mentioned Craftworlds having their own individual rules I would say we'll probably see an Asuryani codex amongst the first batch of releases (surprise, surprise) but I don't think we'll be in it. I think we'll get our own book but not until later. | |

| Lol just posted this! Can an admin drag my opening comment over here? Done - Count Adhemar
I expect we will have our own. Aeldari are probably equivalent to the imperium now.

All assumption though. But if they *don't* put all Aeldari factions in one huge monster codex, then which one are they going to to put the Ynarri in?

| While I am excited that the codexes are being released in a rapid fashion, I hope that there isn't anything too crazy in them that puts the army well above the others. Otherwise it is going to feel like a repeat of previous editions where everyone else had ways to manipulate free points into their armies via formations and we had the kabalite raiding party formation.
I imagine for the drukhari we will be getting a separate codex, the Ynarri codex will be similar to the codex: Death Guard they announced on this blurb.
Also there is the promise of sub-faction rules that are located in the codex. Will different Kabals be given unique rules so we can join in on the SM/CSM discussion of "but muh chapter tactics"? Or will it just be dividing up rules for the kabals, covens, and wych cults?

I'm hopeful that we will get some flavour and distinctiveness between cults, covens and kabals but I'm not that fussed about having special rules for individual cults etc.

| "Are the rules changing? Yes, many units’ rules in their codexes will alter from those in the indexes. Sometimes this is to better represent the miniatures and the background, sometimes to balance the game, and sometimes to better fit with the army’s new special rules in the codex itself. In all cases, these will then supersede the rules for that datasheet in the index book."
This part makes me very happy, as it means that certain units might actually be worth taking *cough* Death Jesters *cough*

| Huh. I'd kind of assumed all flavors of aeldari would share a codex when the time came but I guess maybe not? Where will the ynnari codex fit into all this then? Either way, that's cool. Personally my biggest hope when we get ours is that they drop us a couple more special characters (I say "personally" but I imagine a lot of drukhari players feel similarly).
Just saying. An updated Vect/Malys/Sliscus would be nice (bonus points if that includes new models for the three of them).

| Given GW's recent track record for making big, flashy, and beautiful centerpiece models, Vect had better pimpin' on his ride.
Y'know, if we get him. | |

Y'know, if we get him. Watch them give Vect a model that is essentially him on his own personal tantalus with zero transport capacity but more guns (I can dream can't I?). Then again considering that second gathering storm book kind of set the poor guy up for a fall it could be that Malys will jack his ride.

Now we've said we want it, watch them give him a rubber dingy, then sell him with tagline "It's the model YOU wanted!" - Toffeehammer wrote:

Wouldn't even complain. That being said, given his and Urien's shared dislike of the Ynnari, they've also given him a decent motive to get off his ass and DO something.

| The Ynnari codex is going to steal units from the Eldar/Dark Eldar line.
As for the codexes themselves, I couldn't care less. The fluff will be further ruined and the game will be more "balanced" by making effective units less effective rather than addressing the underlying rules issues that make broken builds viable in the first place and opening the door for the next flavor of the month list.

| I clicked the link to read more about the codexes and they described the indexes as a quick, non faction specific armies. I might be reading into that too much, but that gives me great hope that specific factions like Vect, Malys, etc. Will be reintroduced with the codex. We shall see though.

| I think that they won't make rules for anything that has not a GW model. And I am not too hopeful for new releases. | |

| 10 codexes before the end of the year gives us a decent chance, but I wouldn't bank on it. Its probably good Craftworlders are getting something first as they're the weakest Aeldari faction at the moment (maybe they'll fix Dire Avengers?). | |

| It would be nice to be one of the 10 but I don't think so. Mainly because GW has said that Xenos races are on the backburner compared to Imperium and Chaos. 4 of the 10 are accounted for with rumors swirling of a SoB release of plastics models making a possible 5. Add the Ministorum, AdMech, IG (AM), and a couple veins of Chaos and specific chapters of SM and that is 10 easy. | |

| I agree. 28 codices to do and only 10 this year, with all of the posterboys to do? Don't give in to hope. | |

| Meanwhile, without an updated codex, my birb list continues to ravage tables unabated and GW is losing sales to Guillotine Games while fluff players that refused to accept that this is an actual strategy are losing their minds as a result.
I'm so cozy right now. | |
