| ATC will be happening this weekend, and today, all the lists will be posted. I have played Dark Eldar at the ATC every time I went, and won best DE a few times. I am thinking we will see a HUGE jump in DE lists at ATC. If you are going, post your list here:
My list: (De / Harlequins) Troupe Master / embrace Troupe Master / embrace
3 x troupes / embrace 3x starweavers
9 Mandrakes
3 Lance Ravagers
4 Razorwing Jetfighters / lances
This list has performed very well in every practice so far. Time to see how it does for real.

| They will post them tonight sometime. i will link to it when they do. I had to laugh, because your list is an almost exact copy of one I was going to bring. My first list was all vehicles and 2 arcons. Thats it. Then i did the blasterborn/ warrior and wych combo but in the end my team needed a list to completely nullify a drop in and assault list, so I made mine.
I am undefeated as well, beating 5 knights, 9 units of dark reapers, a wolfstar and a baneblade with guard parking lot. Also had a close call against an ork horde, but a win is a win.

| I actually like your list better. If I had thought about it before I would have added Harlequins. Since my list is already in its a little late. I really wanted to add Mandrakes but didn't own any and after searching I could get any in time. Good Luck, Keep an eye out for me. Dark Blue Dark Eldar will have a black and red, GateWay Gamers shirt on. Coming from St. Louis Mo. | |

| Since the competitive cats are here....see any future for Coven on the competitive circuit or should I keep my Grotesques and Wracks for casual play ? | |

| I will keep notes and give a small Synapses of each game.
I do realize there is an error in my list. The Shreddar should be a Blaster. Unfortunately if that is what I sent in I will not be able to change it. Oh well.

I can give a long, detailed reason why, but the short answer is "no." Covens are not competitive at this moment. That, of course, is just my opinion. Oh, and out of the 54 five man teams, 30 had illegal lists so the release of the lists have been delayed.

I'd love to hear why. I've been out of the game for years so the more game play theory I can absorb the better, that's literally why I'm here! Teach me!

I'd love to hear why. Oh Man. ok then. first off, each part of Dark Eldar rely on Synergy to be competitive. Arcons spread their leadership around to Kabalites (not that great but still useful), Succubi let Wych Cult reroll misses in HTH, which is an AMAZING ability, and haemonculi increase the toughness of nearby coven units. Now, in LAST edition, this would be the best power imaginable. It would have been almost game breaking. But in this edition, +1 toughness is not that great of an ability. If you are toughness 4 or 5, it does not matter against a plethora of weapons, from scatter lasers, to poison weapons, to autocannons to lascannons. Now for str 4-5 shooting, it can help, but to offeset that, you have to realize you are overpaying for every single coven unit except one. You just have to look at a Talos, the cost it is compared to potential damage output to see it is just not worth the paper space it takes up in your list. In earlier editions, a Talos would munch through a Tac squad in nothing flat, with little to no fear of retaliation possible. Now, the Tac squad will laugh at you and the pitiful AP numbers a Talos has. Coven units are also slow. Painfully so. Agonizingly so. Grots cannot be put in transports in sufficient numbers to make them viable (Tantalus excluded) and the grots themselves are so freaking overpriced and underpowered. I mean, look at the wounds they have! A shot from a leeman Russ autocannon can remove 3 models from the board without even trying too hard. They have no save against any AP weapon, and many of those do multiple wounds. Sadly, Grots need to be coddled and protected to be useful, jumping out at the right time at the right unit in the right situation. That is NOTHING like the unholy monsters rampaging across the board, destroying all in their path that GW wants us to treat them like. haemonculi are ok. Not great, but the crucible makes them an interesting choice, and the aura buff is great if you are just going to do vehicle spam. Wracks are the only point efficient unit coven has. Decent damage output, cheap pricetag, nice toughness and resiliency.. they just do not perform a function in a DE army based on synergy. Oh, and you can take 11 wracks for what 3 grots cost and will do more damage on average. 11 to 3. I think, that for now, the coven units are just not worth the points cost for the restricted movement, the low ap output, the lackluster buffs and sub par rules they have. Other units in teh DE army do the same both better and faster. Sadly, Coven units are the mandrakes and wyches from last edition. Wait until they get the book, hope they will buff them up some and make them useful.

| Actually I hate to admit it but Skulnbonz is right on every aspect. I have heard of people using 5 Wracks with 2 Liquifiers and ElctroCorrsive whip in a Raider with 5 Trueborn to some effectiviness, but that is just 1 thing.
I take a Haemonculi and then start the Game with all my Transports within 6 if I can. Don't care about templates so they are all usually pretty close so. I can usually keep a good chunk of them within 6 in the first move but after that he is almost useless. Unless I can get him into HTH with something not real killy.
I had 2 Talos in my list as they can put off a ton of fire(4d6 Shots). But in the practice games we had I realized you have to be way to close to be effective and they stink in CC.

| Seeing a lot of Flock spam at a glance. Scourges seem pretty heavily represented as well.
That said, I don't see loads and loads of Dark Eldar lists in general. Still under the radar, boys!
EDIT: I've seen a couple FIVE lists now that are The Yncarne + a bunch of flock.

| Took me a bit to go through them but yes a lot of Flock Spam. Which makes me sad. There are only like 3-4 True Dark Eldar Lists out there that weren't Flock Spam. Yes I am counting Dark Eldar lists with only a few units of others. IE Yes I counted SkullnBones with 3 Harlequin Troupes as a Dark Eldar List. I don't think flocks are going to do as good as they thing but hey what do I know. Scourges were everywhere and I really didn't think that. Yes that have the Alpha Strike aspect but at the same point they have the die with ease. That just seems to much for 150 points for a 5 man squad. My Opinion of course. There weren't as many Tyranids as I thought there would be. My Son is running Tyranids, and there were like 4-5 others and 2-3 Genestealer Cults. There was a grand Total of 1 Harlequin based army. Guess who is going to win Top list there. LOTS AND LOTS of Storm Ravens. You get a Storm Raven, you get a Storm Raven, You Get a Storm Raven. Did I miss anyone. I think almost every team (except ours) was running Storm Ravens. | |

| I hate to say it but I see more spam this year than I have seen before. Not sure if it is because everything is so new and people are drawn to the new shiny units they think are overpowered, but it is borderlining on ridiculous.
How many R. Gullimans are there running around in the universe anyway?
On paper, the DE lists look so underpowered, but in play, they seem to do so much better than people expect. Here is to hoping that continues!

Sadly it was pretty much inevitable as soon as GW decided that anything could be wounded on a 6. Everything counts in large amounts is the way 8e will go unless it's FAQd pretty hard and pretty fast.
