| Yeah I've found my Grotesques even against Guard not great. Yes they kill Guard in droves. But for 100pts less Incubi could do just as well.
Regardless, my dedicated combat units are ultimately left stranded by units that Fall Back and then promptly turned into pink mist.
I'm thinking I'm going to abandon the Coven and field mostly Kabalites in vehicles with maybe one dedicated combat unit like Incubi with an Archon to mop up stragglers and make it tough to push off an objective. A tooled up Archon with 4 Incubi run less than 4 Grotesques, which has typically been the optimal number in their Rampaging days

I was consider using T6 Grotesques against Guard. When guardsmen wound them on a 6 with Lasguns and CQC they should be unstoppable.

| Add a cronos for rerolling 1 and the occasional heal and they are fearsome, but it become a quite costly setup. | |

| I've been taking 4 grotesques because they're one of the few units that can comfortably fit in a raider with an HQ or two.
They've performed well enough but haven't smashed anything like they used to.

| About the whyche, i played some game with a wych cult now and i think its really important to wait the good moment to go on CC with her. They are not bad for their price but their real stregth appear in the turn 3 because of PFP.
Also Whyche are allways been a low punch unit (even in V3), but their are really effective against close comat specialist cause of their 4++

| Does close combat suck? No its better than ever. You can use skimmers to tank overwatch and small fast units (reavers/scourges/hellions/embarked units/whatever) to charge (and then pile in to engage further without taking overwatch) multiple units and tanks. Rendering them almost useless for a turn. Drink the sweet, delicious tears of your opponent as you lock down his tanks all game while you slaughter everything else in his army. Any actual damage you inflict while in CC is just gravy. | |
