Scourge Lord

An idea I've mentioned a couple of times now is that of a Scourge Lord - effectively a winged Archon who'd lead a pack of Scourges.

Unfortunately, as we know all too well, no such option exists in the DE codex. Hence, I've been playing around with the idea of using other winged HQs for the time being.

The two possibilities at the moment would seem to be either a Swooping Hawk Autarch or Baharroth.

My first question is are there any other winged (or Jump Pack) Eldar HQs that I've missed?

If not, which of the two above do you think would be better for a Scourge Lord?

Finally, if you picked the Autarch, what loadout would you recommend? I'd normally run Scourges with either Blasters or Dark Lances.
- A Fusion Gun would have a similar statline but only 12" range.
- An Avenger Shuriken Catapult would have the same range as the blaster but is far weaker.
- A Reaper Launcher is comparable to a Dark Lance, but is by far the most expensive weapon (and would also make them a long-range squad who will suffer in accuracy any time they want to take advantage of their mobility).

Any thoughts?

Irillyth can be another interestin "winged" option. Six wounds, not bad in close combat, leadership malus for enemies... sadly no invulnerability, but still 2+ armour

Also comes with a SICK gun and an absolutely evil force multiplier ability.

You could even use Scourges as your Shadow Spectres.

Actually, Irillyth really is an excellent choice in the grand scheme of things.
That, and Autarch or Baharoth are basically it in terms of wings. Any other option would be bikes or transports.

One question - if I use Irillyth, do you think my Scourges would be better off with Blasters or Dark Lances?

I could but the whole point is to have a Scourge Lord.

If you're having multiple units, I'd say mix and match. Maybe a couple of units of both.

Hmm, I'd actually only been planning to run a single squad with him (as his retinue). I could run a second one, giving Blasters to one and Dark Lances to the other. (I don't own enough Scourges to field more than 2 squads of them).

Assuming I fielded one squad with Dark Lances and another with Blasters, my question remains basically the same - which unit do you think Irillyth should run with?

Not sure if he gets a special version but the standard Prism Rifle is 18" range so I'd suggest the Blaster squad.

With a single squad, Blasters.

Irillyth does get a special weapon, the Spear Of Starlight, which is 24".
But I'd say hes better at closer range for his Ld modifier (which IS 18" range).

I say blasters. You'll already be at a deficit if you're paying for an ability you aren't getting any use out of (his ability to turn ShadowSpectre Exarchs into fear batteries). If you can get some utility out of the rest of his abilities, you should.

If I were outfitting an Autarch to hang out with a squad of Scourges, I would probably rock twin Deathspinners. 4 S 6 shots hitting on 2's with rerolls is some nice point-blank fire support.
