Finally started painting my Dark Eldar.

Amazingly the Hull and sail have a base color on them.

How did you do the floor/deck? I really liked the worn-feeling.

Thanks I will be working on the Venom mostly since I botched my raider a bit. I'm not used to painting vehicles.


Skjalgepalg: It's just chain mail silver or any silver metallic paint you want with a blue ink over.

Thanks, seems I should try to explore inks a bit more then.

I like the purple color you've got going on there. its just the right mix of hues and it looks very nice.

Okay last update for my venom. made the tendrils pop out a little more.

That's a great piece of freehand on the venom.

Note the flash on the abs I left there because there going to be needles that a are sticking out.

Finecast acupuncture?
What colors are you using for the flesh? I think the bluish tone on the Grotesque will really complement the purples and blues.

Okay here's the paint I have been using so far.
I use vallejo paints btw I don't like paint pots.
Everything was primed Black

Raider WIP still
base Coat Night Blue, edge highlights are Warlord purple

Venom
The hull was base coated with Night blue. Once that was dry i put some kind of Blue ink over that for an extreme dark look. (the label name wore off)
The tendrils was then done with warlord purple with shading up to a greyish pink using Ghost Grey. The deck on the Venom was base coated with chain mail silver with a washing of that blue ink over it. I did two coats of it to get the really blueish look.

Grotesque skin
Was a mix of Ghost grey and Electric blue with the shading up to ghost grey.


Don't ask me for mix ratio's since I mix as I go and guess!
One day I want to tape me painting a mini for research and sharing.

What do you think of the metal bits on the Grotesque?

Looks good! The lighting is a little off, but it looks like you used a greenish shading tint for the gold and a bluish tint for the regular metal? Looks pretty good. I like to shade the gold color on mine a little darker using PP Coal Black thinned with water/Devlan Mud to give darker tone before I highlight up the metal. Your Grotesque is making me want to paint mine....can't get sidetracked from painting goal

The metal is just slopped on gold with a blue ink wash. I've been getting kind of lazy when it comes to painting. *sigh*

I do plan on getting a tripod for my camera or phone in order to record myself painting a miniature so I can share some of my techniques and also maybe it will help me paint better idk.

Well no painting was done but i did finish my instant Raider -> Ravager Conversion.


And here are some Warriors who had enough money for custom blasters. (So far I have made 6 blasters from 3 reaver boxes Raider box, and 1 Battleforce box.)

Just got my second box of Hellions and Since I didn't know what to do with my metal Archon and I needed a baron well here is what the math led me too.

Good Conversion. It looks really well done and like it fits just like its supposed to.

Just an update I bought someones Dark Eldar collection since he is as of now done with 40k.
This is what I got from someone selling his dark eldar. It's all the old range but for $250 it's enough.

Edit: Update Got the rest of it today.

So with 6th on the horizon I really want to buckle down and get my dark eldar painted. As I feel that my earlier scheme really wasn't cutting it I think i will change to this sort of color scheme.


The idea now is that my Dark Eldar army is more of a Dark Eldar Corsair Army. They specialize in more of a jungle/City warfare running brutal hit and run raids on foot then dissolving back into the jungle.

I like the idea and the color scheme is well executed. But I don´t think that it fits the models. In my opinion these kind of armor does not work with a camouflage.

Maybe it works if you combine more painted models.
