| As I can continue working on my force and planning to buy more models, I find myself drawn to the Tantalus, so I was wondering two main things.
First for those who have one, would they consider it worthy as a purchase, in terms of in game capability.
Second, how was it to actually construct? My experience assembling incubi was not very enjoyable, and I have heard that the material used by forgeworld is fairly similar and prone to warping

| Its a fun unusual vehicle. A little bit on the expensive side. Its not that durable even with 18 wounds... ive played it in about 10 games and brought it to a five game tournament. It can be devastatin if your opponent leaves it alone , but in most games it died in turn one or two. If your opponent focuses its anti tank on it it will die in a turn usually.
Id say get one because its cool. But the points are better spenton Ravagers.

I just got to use my new one for the first time on Thursday in a game against Primaris Marines (which admittedly is sort of a scissors vs paper scenario) and it performed remarkably well. I took full advantage of it's ability to move 32" a turn and shoot, and even with the -1 to hit it still managed to kill back almost it's points worth in Hellblasters and Aggressors. It was able to get my Incubi and Wyches into position to kill off different threats around the board, and thanks to it's speed I was able to get an objective in the enemy back field. It was top notch. To benmannen6's point though, it is a lot of eggs in one basket and while it's durable it's not invincible. My game was a team game and my opponents seemed more concerned with other stuff so I didn't take a lot of fire, so take that for what it's worth - Quote :

Forgeworld stuff is quite different to Finecast and while it can come warped sometimes, it's easy to fix by heating it with a hair dryer or some hot water on the stove. It's much more durable, and I can't say I've ever seen FW resin warp and break the way Finecast does. That said, mine was a real pain to build because of the amount of flash that was on it (especially on the on the deck rails) and spots where the molds seemed misaligned and required a lot of shaving and leveling out on my part. There also was some warping on the halves of the command deck that have to be glued together, and because of the way they interconnect with the brass decking it was really difficult to figure out how much I needed to heat and bend them to get everything to dry fit easily. Now, they were out of stock for several weeks before they shipped mine and from what I understand they were having a lot of inventory issues at the time for all their products. It's possible my troubles were a one-off issue (I'd be curious to hear other people's experiences), but all FW models will require some degree of cleaning and filing to assemble. If it's your first time working with FW resin, expect it to be a challenge, but I wouldn't say it's insurmountable.

| It's not awful. It's fun to play and I like to squeeze it in lists for some fun play. It rarely earns it's keep in a hard core environment. It's funny to run one as a coven unit and park a Haemonculus beside it for T:8. Makes it more resilient. I won't find it's way into too many optimized lists. | |

| Had my second game with it tonight. It ended up killing 3 Deathshroud Terminators, about half a plague marine squad, whatever the new Nurgle Sorcerer is called, and put a few wounds on Mortarion (on average should've been significantly more, but my opponent rolled a gobsmackingly unlikely percentage of invuln and DR saves). On top of that it served perfectly to get my two squads of Incubi to the different places on the board that I needed them. It was eventually blown up in melee by Morty but it totally earned it's keep. The D2 from the Pulse Disintegrators is a champ at overcoming DR. | |

| It's a gem Always take it in my lists and, yes it has died in turn one and two as such, but it doesn't always. At the end of the day it's also down to what your opponent brings and what they do with it. Just because it only has 18 wounds doesn't mean it will always die. I've had it survive entire games before, even in a large apocalypse game. When it's worth doing so I will use a CP to re-roll an invul' just to keep it going or make sure my opponent wastes too much firepower on it. When I typically have at least 2 Ravagers, a Reaper and a Voidraven floating around as well. I always take it as it's a great centre piece and it can throw out some hurt that's for sure. | |

I take it in every friendly game.
