2k - Gimmicky Tantalus Spam - Thoughts?

The basic idea is that it's a resilient alpha-strike army using the Tantalus. Generally I'd have six drops, with the Wyches and Succubus deploying inside Tantalus' and the Haemonculus standing next to them in order to give +1T in case I can't get the first turn. However, if the opponent also has five/six drops I can potentially deploy the Haem on-board a transport as well to cut my list down to 5 drops, at the cost of being more vulnerable if I don't get turn one.

Essentially, I'd start turn one by embarking the Haemonculus and boosting all three transports up to 32" into the opponents face, and then unleash 36 S8 shots into whatever was most threatening. Coupled with the firepower from my fliers, that would hopefully be enough to soften the opposing army up ready for a turn-2 charge from 45 Wyches. There's probably something more optimal I can do with the points I'm spending on them, but I like that they fill the three transports nicely and bring a good amount of anti-infantry and tar-pitting power in case I go up against any kind of gunline or horde army.

Is there anything you can see that stands out as a major weakness of this list? I'm not necessarily looking for something that can win an entire tournament, but I would like it to be in with a shot at least against the majority of things I'm likely to see.

Just so you know, the Haemonculus only give +1 T to the Coven units (wracks, grotesques, Talos, Cronos) so he is kind of waster in this list i would say your better of dropping him and putting in another succubus to spread out the aura

Any way you can make it 9 units of 5 wyches? You'd get a ton more agonisers for not that many extra points.

There's no easy way to do it without paying for an extra HQ as far as I can tell, unfortunately. I could go for 6x5 as use the points from the 15 I get rid of to pick up some Razorwings to screen or some Scourges or something, but that would raise the number of drops I have and if I'm going that route I might as well drop a Tantalus and make the list a bit more conventional.

Dropping the splinter cannons on the razorwings would give you an extra 30 points to play with. That would give you enough points for the extra 6 agonisers

Yeah, affording the Agonisers is easy, but I don't have enough Troop slots for 9 Wych units. I would have to make some of them Bloodbrides, which is more points than I have spare. If I wanted to go for many smaller units, my best bet is probably 6x5 Bloodbrides and 3x5 Wyches, which would leave me enough points left over for a 6-base Razorwing swarm after dropping a fighter. I don't know that it's worth the extra kill points, hassle with combat drugs and reduced firepower/tarpitting ability to pick up a relatively minor increase in killing power when considering that some units will have to take mediocre drugs and it'll be a lot harder to spread the Succubus' buff around.

Worth considering, though.

No reason not to take 3 x 10 man and 3 x 5 man units though. Could even get the extra wych to fill your last tantalus with

Edit: the drugs are a good point - though 1 of your big units is going to end up with a fairly useless one anyway.

3*10 and 3*5 also gives you extra Hydra Gauntlets.
