What are our standings giving competitive games, I know Imperial Guard won at Nova with cheap psykers, blobs, Creed and the Saint.
But what can dark eldar do now for competition plays? Spamming venoms, still seem reasonable, spamming blasters and dark lances also especially with spilt fire now, our flyers seem pretty damn good now as well.
Long Story short, we struggle hard against hordes, rock vs vehicles.
the vast majority of our options can be safely ignored. Blasters are the only special weapon worth your while. Seriously, if you have access to a Shredder, Heat Lance,or Haywire Blaster ignore it and get a blaster or, better yet, a Dark Lance.
Lances are the best option when they are available unless that slot also has a disintegrator option, with the two both considered viable. Jury is still out on which one is optimal.
Don't bother with venom spam. Splinter Cannons got nerfed so hard that they should never be taken if given the option.
Our HQs are mostly terrible. Take the cheapest option available, kit them out with an angonizer/electrocorrosive whip.
Stay away from Wyches, Bloodbrides, Reavers, Hellions, Grotesques, Talos. Some are just flat terrible, some are okay-ish but too frail for their points, or else lack meaningful damage output in a tournament setting.
Razorwing is decent, Ravager edges it out for single target AV killing. Void Raven is too niche for tournament play, particularly with the current meta being for hordes.
Warriors are OK. Nothing special, poison isn't particularly good this edition but it's still better than strength 3.
Trueborn. Kit them out with as many lances and blasters as you can, stick them in a transport, and go hunting.
Mandrakes are decent all-rounders. Nothing spectacular, but not crap either. Incubi are also very solid. Nothing fancy, just a couple of accurate attacks with decent strength and AP, but certainly a worthy melee unit.
DO NOT TAKE OUR SPECIAL HQ's. DE want as few points wasted on HQs as possible and our special characters are a joke even by our standards for HQs. In a Tournament setting they are a complete waste of points and lovely models.
