| I had a couple of spare Mandrakes and was planning to use them in a different army. I started painting one with greyish skin, but didn't like how it was looking (mostly because the sword was annoying me). However, the lighter skin did make me wonder what an albino(ish) Mandrake would look like. Well, I had another spare Mandrake, so here it is: - Spoiler:
(I used dark colours for the sword and robes to make it more of a contrast. And I'm well aware that I can't paint fire to save my life, so apologies for the flame looking crap.) I know it probably doesn't fit them as well as coal-black skin, but I still quite like it.

| I need to paint one like this, my archon would kill and dismember to poursue his albino collection.
Excellent idea and nice outcome !
For the flame, easy trick (especially on small flames like this one). Pick 3 colors : 1 bright, 1 medium, 1 dark.
Paint the brighter color all around. Paint the medium everywhere but recesses. Paint the third as edge highlight. Add a smaller highlight of pure black to the extremity.
Top notch : use lahmia medium & medium color (4 to 1) for a subtle OSL effect.
If you're in, I'll make a small tutorial if you need more explanations.

Excellent idea and nice outcome ! Thanks. I was pleasantly surprised by how this guy turned out. I'm especially fond of his eye. I usually suck at painting them, but I think this one turned out quite well. - masamune wrote:

| Schweet that looks kickass. Now I've got a little bit of headcanon that when Mandrakes fire their baleblasts they briefly flash inverted colours... | |
