| Hey folks. I am going to my local club tournament in a few weeks and below is the list I will be taking. It consists mostly of all the painted models I own, and I am going not with any expectation to win, but to have a good time and do as well as I can with it. I have not played a great deal in 8th so I am really looking for some tactical advice on how you think this army will work, and any advice on playing to win with the list handicap I present to you (I am not going to change anything, even if it is more optimal, as I want to only play with painted models although the tournament does not require this.) thanks in advance ++ Battalion Detachment +3CP (Aeldari - Drukhari) [109 PL, 2002pts] +++ No Force Org Slot +Beast Unit [5 PL, 100pts]. | Here are the missions FWI
Blood points explanation
Instead of giving army's an advantage or disadvantage based on how many units they have and awarding a VP per unit destroyed in the eternal war mission "No Mercy". Will be taking a leaf from back in 4th edition where you get a units points value for killing a unit and half their points if below half strength.
Blood points will be converted into VP by dividing the score by 100 giving a maximum of 20 points for tabling your opponent. This might seem a lot, but if both players are killing each other, there shouldn't be much difference in score
What to Bring Your army Minimum of two typed army lists The latest version of your armies FAQ Rule book, Army codex, dice and tape measure. Objective markers, clearly marked 1 - 6 as per the rule book. Tactical Objective Cards Any other materials required.
Game Scenarios Game One Deployment: Dawn of War Mission: Tactical Escalation + Blood Points
Game Two Deployment: Hammer and Anvil Mission: Cloak and Shadows + Blood Points
Game Three Deployment: Search and Destroy Mission: Cleanse and Control + Blood Points

| Looking over your army, and with the point adjustment of dropping a Warrior, I'd suggest maybe at least taking a Shock Prow on your Raider or maybe a PGL if you have them modeled? Why waste the points?
Your army as a whole is very assault centric - this isn't too bad for you as the missions generally favor that playstyle.
You have speed, but the core of your army really will be that assault hammer. With that in mind I'd advocate trying to keep objectives fairly close together. If your opponent drops an objective than you should make sure to drop your next objective close to it or an objective you previously dropped. You're going to have the speed to go pretty much anywhere, but you'll want a central location for your Talos to control with the Blaster and s.cannon fire support that will also benefit from being in short to mid range.
That said, try to favor one side or the other of the enemy army - the less he can shoot at your focused fist the better.
Looking at the missions, I would definitely say for Tactical Escalation pick one of the Objective Secured categories (I forget their silly names, but y'know how they divide up 'Secure Objective X' into two types - pick one of those) Your army doesn't have the shooting or character assassination to play with the others, and defending points is dicey, but you'll have speed, maneuverability, and decent assault so you ought to be able to take objectives fine.
Game Two is a dream for you, as the penalty pretty much will only affect your Ravager and Razorwing, and otherwise you're looking sexy.
Game Three will be what it will be - try to remember to keep the objectives fairly clumped.
Additional thought - don't forget the option to assault in with a vehicle (especially that Raider) to absorb overwatch for your assault elements (especially the Wyches)
I advocate +1 Str for your Wyches since you lack an Aggie (I'm 75% sure in this case it is the better drug, though it might still be +1 Att - I usually run Aggies and take the Attack drug so I forget the specifics off the top of my head) and +1 Att for your Succubus to maximize Glaive murder. You can also take +1 WS for the Succubus if you sweat the 3+ to hit with re-rolling 1s on the Succubus until PfP pops and want the Att for the Wyches.
When playing Maelstrom always remember that if you can't make a card happen within 1-2 of your turns (counting the one you drew it in) you're better off discarding it asap for a better draw.

| Great advice Thor. That’s exactly the kind of thing I am looking for. Thanks I will most certainly upgrade to a shock prow. I never remember to assault with the raiders, so that should be a nice prompt for me. My Wyches always lose models on the way in. Yes it is very assault focused for sure. Mainly by chance as I tended to convert models I liked the idea/look of rather than what is most effective. Should make for a fun game though hopefully (although if I meet a tank heavy army I am pretty screwed for sure). I will most certainly be taking your advice on the objective deployment. I better get the missions cemented in Munich head so I can play it to my advantage with the placement to favour my army. I have always tended to spread them out but the cluster idea definitely makes sense to me. Right I shall do that for sure then on the drugs. The +1 strength sounds like a good plan. I always struggle to wound anything usually with them | |

| Hey! I just built a similar list
My strategy is this: Turn 1 advance all melee units and fire ravagers (I have 3) and venoms to weaken enemy
Turn 2, Maneuver wyches to flank so talos have a way in, charge beasts as first line in b/c they dont benefit from PFP
Turn 3: Drop in mandrakes, charge everything into combat
I think Thor's objective placement advice is key, i'll def be using that.
I think both of our lists would benefit from a way to pull enemies in, the obj placement helps, any other ideas?

| @Redregicide. Cool! I have a game tonight so Inwill let you know how I get on. It’s against guard so I’m not expecting great things, but will give me good practise at the objective game @Tricktock. Where did you get that info? My index says 56 points same as BattleScribe | |

| Sooo, just to let you guys know I managed to get first place with this army. Small club tourney but some pretty stiff competition. Played to the objectives so squeaked out a win in some really Close games. | |
