Sslyth Party Bus

Sslyth Party Bus: 2 Archons and 8 Sslyth. Still works if you have more than one Detachment. Heck, you can fill the whole thing with Sslyth if you have 3 Detachments but at that point you might as well go all in and shove them all in a Tantalus. Still awesome, still hilarious. Just remember that each model is an independent character now so wait until turn two so you can re-roll charges before getting into melee. You will thank me later.


Has anyone tried to run this tactic? Sslyths are actually pretty decent in combat and would benefit from being able to shoot 24 shots out of a Raider or 12 out of a venom before going into cc. They're all characters and individual units so you could do some crafty things with them if you're smart about movement. Thoughts?

Take the 1d4chan DE tactics page for 8th edition with a mountain of salt. I mean, they talk about how fantastic Wyches and Reavers are!

No matter how much I try, I can’t seem to justify the sslyth. My Archon isn’t worth protecting, and I’d rather take medusae every time.

It's decent, considering the Chapter Approved price drop for the Court.
It's nowhere as good as not taking an Archon at all, but it has become decent.

I'd much rather have a Ur-ghul and Medusea over the Sslyth, i just like them for their looks (6 models compare to 4) 2 dedicated melee and 2 dedicated shooting. Its more attacks over all with more models vs ranger/toughness.

I've tried it before with some court, they are final if you abuse the character rules. Other wise having a few court isnt to bad.

Its one of those things where you either takes insane amounts of them or very little.

Mmm..I'm not sure that Sslyths have PfP rule. Can't remember right now, I think they don't.

They do NOT have PFP, the 2 that do are Lhamaean and Medusae, Sslyth and Ur-hguls do not, they instead get a 5++.

The Sslyth also gain Cold-blooded (they take the wound instead of an Archon).

So that advice is wrong: there's no need to wait until turn 2

Correct, they dont get it b.c they are not DE, they are hired mercenaries, and the Ur-ghul if i remember, are not effected by drugs, or their skin cant be cut, something like that.
