Kizzdougs, Commorraghrite painting log.

Hey guys, first post on the forum.
I've ben checking out the various project logs on the forum and I've got to say i really like what i see! I thought i might share some pics of my latest work.

I've painted WHFB/40K for several years now but only recently started painting a couple of Dark Eldar. They have such beautiful and detailed minis i just couldn't resist any longer.
The DE have presented me with a few new challenges, especially when it came to the skin tone.


I decided to go with the same style of skin that i used for my Dark Elf Corsairs. I have only recently started using this particular tone after i painted a squad of warriors for my local games store. The warriors skin was painted with a far greyer base colour than i eventually decided on.

My Archon WIP.


For the armour i was inspired by the art work on the cover of the previous DE codex. I really like the slightly blue tone on the edging of the armour and used this as the base for my colour scheme.




There is still plenty to do on the Archon and I've just started work on Lelith. Hopefully i'l get some updates posted soon.

Very nice work. I'm a huge fan of the pale skin. Did you add something to the top of the trophy rack, or am I just looking at it wrong?

Don't worry, you're looking at it just right. I added the sea dragon head piece from the Dark Elf Corsairs set (I tried to add a link to the model but I haven't been a board member long enough).

Nice. I couldn't tell from the angle, but it just looked taller. Your archon looks good. Looking forward to more!

I like the combination of colours a lot.
The pale cloak, fur and face are a great contrast to the rich, intense blue and green.
Looking really great, looking forward to seeing that guy finished

I managed to get a little more finished last night. Emphasis on little.

I've now highlighted the Helmet plume and the bronze metallics.


I thought i would just add a pic of the 'trophy rack' ESE asked about.

Thanks for the side shot to show the trophy wrack conversion. Very cool. I really like how the bronze looks with the blue. What are you using for the bronze?

The bronze is Tinbitz highlighted with a 50/50 mix of Tinbitz and Shining Gold. I then gave it a Devlan Mud wash before washing the deepest recesses with watered down Chaos Black. I finished off with two highlights. The first was a mix of Tinbitz, Shining Gold and Mithril Silver. About 2/2/1. The final highlight was pure silver.

Interesting. It almost looked like it was a different line of paints. Might be the lighting. Whatever the case I really like the effect. Have you just painted the Archon or have you worked on any others? Hint hint-we'd love more pictures!

I've just started work on Lelith. I originally based her on a square fantasy base because i planed to use her as a DE Hagqueen. Once the paint job is finished i think i'll mount her on the regular round base though. So far i've painted the skin and almost finished the armour. I'll try to get some pics up latter to day

Looking forward to it. I always burn myself out by painting all of my troops before doing really special models...it's a great way to get burnt out

Alright time for some pics of Lileth. She's still very much a WIP. I'm not entirely happy with the skin. I struggled to keep the paint thin and achieve good coverage.
I can't decide how to introduce 'Green' to the mini either. Maybe a streak in the hair? Any ideas would be welcome





I'm particularly happy with the eye makeup.

The skin, and the eye makeup, look great to me.

I would put green in the hair, either streaks or the whole thing.

I think a green streak in the hair or perhaps a tattoo if your into such things.


And the face looks stunning!

Well its been a long, long time since i did any work on my Dark Eldar. I though i'd post some pics of what i've done so far. Since my last post i've done some work on the Archaon's base and added a few small details. Its not much but hopefully I'll get some inspiration to get him finished soon. I still need to work on the weapon arm and the weapon needs some sanding.







I just need to highlight the skulls, dirty up the Eldar remains and add some static grass.

Your Archon rocks my world. Fantastic colours! I like the big trophy rack, might pinch it for my Tomb Banshee Archon.

I've been looking at the new Dark Elf Witch Elves and can't help but think that they'd make great Wyches/Bloodbrides. I might just have to get myself a box or two...
