Well, considering how much you payed for useless stats on trueborns, this isn't surprizing.
Kabalites being able to take 2 specs AND 1 heavy makes the need for trueborns less evident.

Yeah because who ever advanced with their Venoms full of Blasters.

Oh shoot, wait, that was the entire point of Blasters being assault.

Buut now you can take two blobs of 20 with an archon, stay back and blast away with improved 6" range. An the funniest thing is that they're the screen, protecting the ravagers.

I'd rather have the option of Trueborn.

See this is the problem I have with this edition. Nothing was hurt by simply leaving those options in there. Are they redundant now? Maybe a little, but now we lost 2 elite slot units for no reason.

I can't, they are out of the codex, gw isn't going to be giving us more units later. If we were marines yeah maybe we could expect another update during 8th, but we're DE GW probably isn't going to make another DE release for a long time.

That being said, I agree with this article. With warriors being almost half the price of trueborn and transports being cheaper, I can accept the loss of trueborn.

Trueborn with new Blasters would be too damn strong. I bet GW had to choose: d6 damage on Blasters OR Trueborn units.
Lucky for us they made right choice.
I was tired of almost same Venomspam rosters some years ago. Now we have less limits and more fun.

Typically, I would agree with you 100%.

Buuut then Forgebane came out with new Mechanicus and even some new freaking Necron models.

One necron model for the codex that came out literally a week later, so that doesn't count, the the knight model is for imperials so of course they get new models all the time. Not to mention GW has also announced that more knights are coming out in the new few months, so again it's just a model a few months before its codex. Can't expect the same treatment at all for DE.

I could see them doing the same for us boxed with Thousand sons as they have invaded commorragh at the moment.

Don't forget we can still take trueborn as they're present in the index. In terms of them being assault I can't say that was ever useful for me as I didn't advance with them. Generally with careful deployment I could move the venom and be in range of the thing I wanted to shoot at anyway, also allowing me to shoot the venom also. As a Poisoned tongue player I'm looking forward to having a reason to take my gunboat warriors again.

Put 8 Blasterborn in a Raider, take Obsidian Rose and use Screaming Jets.
You get 8 24" Dark Lances without a hit penalty that you can deploy anywhere you want. That's really silly.

I think they deliberately chose the Scourge as our dedicated special/heavy weapon carrier because it cannot benefit from obsessions.

I absolutely would love to field Trueborn for the theme alone, but I'm fine with that they did in terms of gameplay.

Agree, keeping out Trueborn was the right choice for me.

Oh no something strong people would have to play around. That almost makes is like every other top shelf army.

Why can't we do this exactly?

I firmly believe we are going to get a funkily named elite kabalite unit down the road. Everyone reiterating the "hurr durr we aren't marines" seem to have missed the fact that They said themselves in late 2015-2016 that they were moving to this model explicitly to decouple model releases from codex releases. Microfactions. The Magic The Gatheringification of Games Workshop is completely bent away from large window releases and refreshes.

I highly doubt CWE will ever get plastic aspects but they may well get wholely new aspects in plastic in a realitvely short window of time. We won't see Kabalite Trueborn models probably ever but we could certainly see something like a Flayed Skull Slaughter corps before 2021.
