1000 points for a doubles game

Hi guys, I've got a doubles game with my brother coming up on Friday and could do with some advice. It's 1000 points each and he's probably bringing his tau, which will mean long range nastiness like broadsides or longstrike and hammerheads, maybe a riptide with smattering of firewarriors.

So I was thinking of bringing a red grief outrider detachment to run interference and tie up whatever seems mist threatening whilst he blasts them to pieces. I'm bit sure what we'll be facing, but I know one guy is pretty competitive and plays in major tournaments with an all tanks IG list.
