Soul seeker pistol

Had a gane against T’au today. Ran poison tongue with a soul seeker pistol for the heck of it, and that little relic did some damage! The pistol earned me slay the warlord, air supremacy and the kill a character objective in one shot, over a hill, through a screen. Might be worth running PT for this relic alone.

Can I ask how you used the Archon carrying the pistol? e.g. was he on foot or firing from a transport?

I have to say, the idea of a 'lone assassin' Archon certainly appeals to me.

Did you try to get into melee with him at all, or did he just shoot?

I've had similar luck with this relic, sniped out a painboy surrounded by two big mobz of boyz which made trimming down those mobs much easier. I prefer flayed skull for the obsession benefits, but the Soul Seeker is pretty useful and trolly. Might try some more games with PT and see how it goes.

I hadd cc as an option with him, but I never got the chance to get him in because the opponent sort of ragequit when he saw I had him cornered.

I think the pistol is a cool relic, but we have a lot of nice relics and it would be hard for me to justify taking a poisoned tongue detachment just for the relic. It's not like writ of the living muse where you want say just a spearhead to make the most use of the relic. I'd definetly take it if I ran a poisoned tongue detachment, but otherwise I'd probably just stick with the good old djinn blade.

Poisoned Tongue is interesting for their stratagem. I think maybe the alternate deployment option provided by the Webway portal (the fortification, not the stratagem), can make poison warrior mobs a thing.

I see a use in using that pistol to try and dislodge an enemy buffer (like the primaris lieutenant) because those tend to be the models enemy players try to keep safe whilst providing their benefits. Especially I think it would be useful against IG as they have plenty of lower defense buff or singular purpose characters whom usually rely on being surrounded by bubble wraps. The pistol does not guarantee killing their strategy per say but it can also serve as a mean clean up tool (barring vehicles because poison).

It does consistently damage characters each turn, and enough to make them react to it. When they hear that it can possibly mete out 6 dmg in a shooting round, they have to react to it and that can destroy their original gameplan.
