I'm confused right now, can an Archon use a blaster (and should he use it?) or can he not because it's not in the codex.
Somebody told me that I always have to use the updated ruleset which is the codex in which the archon cannot use a blaster.

Any wargear options that were allowed in the Index remain legal even if they're not present in the Codex, but you have to use the Codex points cost for them.

To be clear. I think you have to take the index version of the Archon to get the blaster. (i.e. he would now buff leadership and not give you the re-roll 1's to hit).

He uses the current profile and current weapon stats. GW has a chart that explains how it works.
