| With 6 dissie ravagers you shouldn't really be worried about anything, 54 disintegrator cannon shots is so mean and that firepower is going to wreck pretty much anything. | |

| I play against Necrons a lot and can pretty much confirm all of the above. Destroyers are hell if you don't deal with them fast, but honestly we're more than capable of blowing them away. Dissies are top-notch for this.
On Wraiths, the best advice is to simply ignore them where possible. If you can't, I found that mass poison fire does me wonders - though I may be a bit lucky. Now let's say you do kill a good number of them, using AoV may be worth your time if it's a big unit.
There is one other niche thing to watch out for: two of the Necron's Dynastic Codes greatly increase their speed. One allows the entire army to advance with rapid-fire weapons, at the cost of them becoming assault; and the other means the whole army auto-advances 6". I say these are niche because very few Necron players bother to use them. The former allows for Imotekh to be fielded, and he is nasty so be careful. Otherwise, just follow the advice of everyone here, and have fun with it. Focus down units, even if it's just a warrior blob, you should make sure it DIES.

| In terms of Necrons in general: - Destroyers, as already mentioned, are priority targets. However, with Disintegrators, Dark Lances, Blasters and poisoned weapons, I don't think they'll be that much of an issue. Also, take note that it's the Destroyers you want to aim for first - not the Heavy Destroyers. Heavy Destroyers might sound threatening, but they're actually kinda crap compared to regular destroyers. At the very least, make sure all regular Destroyer squads are dead before going after the Heavy Destroyers. - Doomsday Arks are considered one of the best units in the codex, so they'll probably be your secondary targets. - Wraiths, IMO, aren't actually that great. They're very expensive and poison fire should shred them. Note that, whilst they don't have RPs, there is a stratagem that can give it to them for a turn - so eliminate entire squads at a time if you can. - Tesla units can be very nasty (24" Assault 2 S5 AP- D1, each to-hit roll of 6+ generates 2 extra hits). With MWBD, every 5+ rolled to hit will generate 2 additional hits. On average, this will result in the unit getting more hits than it had shots. Lightning Fast Reactions could be a vital Stratagem to counter Tesla fire against an important unit. - The Deceiver C'tan has a redeployment trick and the C'tan are characters, so are difficult to target. They also have powers that inflict mortal wounds. However, they're high-toughness units with 4++ saves, so poison should absolutely shred them when you get the chance. - Crokadilla wrote:
- So here is an expirimental list designed to try and bumrush and lock down his Destroyers with Wyches. 1 squad in a raider, 2 coming in thru DS. Reavers are going to be advancing through their front lines and charging their crypteks. Mathhammer says that a squad of 9 will almost certainly wipe a cryptek in a single charge.
Also decided that the 6+ FNP and rerolling 1s to wound is better than keeping out of range for my Ravagers. Tell me what you guys think and any edits you think I should make.

If so you can't have more than 3 Ravagers. Regardless, I'm not sure melee is the way to go against Necrons. Stuff like Destroyers are actually more mobile than Wyches, so even catching them will be a pain. What's more, they have cheap scarabs to screen their units from both melee and deep strikes. What's more, Necrons have many T5+ units with 3+ or worse saves, so Poison is very effective against them. In addition, they have few weapons with more than 24" range, and many of their units are relatively slow. Hence, once the stuff like Destroyers have been removed, it'll probably be a lot easier to pick apart their army piece by piece, whilst remaining out of range of a significant portion of it. If you're dead set on melee, would it not make more sense to have just 1 Shardnet and Impailer in each Wych squad (and instead have 2 Hydra Gauntlets)? They don't do anything extra when you have them in multiples and you can just choose to remove that model last as a casualty.

| Well, I took your advice and just went for it. The Results are in!
While I unfortunately did not win, it was an extremely close game, one that even came down to the die you roll to see if their is a turn 6 or not. At the end of turn 5 he had some troops on Objectives while he had mostly wiped mine. If we had gotten one more turn, Both him an I agreed that I probably would have had it.
Anyway, just wanted to give you guys an update of how the game went and what I think I did wrong. Firstly, Canoptek Wraiths CANNOT just be ignored completely like someone said. Sure, they are a distraction for the better stuff like Destroyers, but they phae through all terrain, are quite fast, do fairly heavy dmg in CC, and have a super annoying 3++. While they aren't primary targets, I needed the Splinter fire to even have a hope of dealing with them.
One of the main things I know that I did wrong was the movement and deployment of my Reavers. I deployed everything on one side to clump up my strength (Ravager-Archon Bubble) and he did the same on the other side around his Cryptek. I became too obsessed with trying to take advantage of a Reaver's speed to try and assassinate him T1, meaning that I had to deploy them right upfront. While I made sure I was out of Immortal and Warrior range, their simply was not enough table to hide from the Destroyers and yet also be close enough to eviscerating flyby on this cryptek. The first reaver squad was wipedin that first turn as almost everything else I brough was behind cover.
Turn 2 I moved up my second reaver squad into a new position as I found that I had exactly enough movement to fly on top of the Cyptek, but not to find a place to land afterwards. I was right behind Blocking terrain and thought that I would be in the perfect position to ambush next turn. However, I had forgotten that Wraith have phasing, and they just went right through that blocking terrain to wreck me.
Well, if it wassuch a close game, what went well? First off, on turn 1 I focused 100% of my Ravager fire into his Obelisk, and dealt exactly 13 Unsaved wounds to it, 26 damage total - EXACTLY enough to kill it. Turn two, my ravager bubble shifted in order to shoot and wipe a squad of 5 Destroyers. Also fired at some immortals and some rapidly approaching Wraiths (This turned out to be another mistake, I had needed to target down that Immortal squad)
The Deep striking wyches were the MVP though. Popping up right on turn 2 in their back lines, I got the charge on his other Destroyer squad and onto his Necron Warrior squad. With my 4++ CC invulns both Wych squads tied them down for several turns each, which performed absolutely amazing.
I think that I should have just taken more barebones kabalites instead of the second reaver squad. While they have potential, they clearly need extremely exact precision and strategic knowhow when deploying and moving them. for the 360 points I dumped into them i could have gotten 6 more squads of 10 Splinter Rifle shots, which would have done WORK on the Wraiths that just swam up the field.
