hi guys i had my first local tournament play yesterday and i got my razorwings charged by venoms. In my turn i tried to pivot 90 degrees to leave close combat and my oponent said that im not allowed to because the flyers base is oval in shape and so i cannot turn my plane 90 degrees on its axis with the venom being in close combat or some crap. So i had to move straight forward which lead both of my flyers off the table.
I found this kinda strange since flyers treat all models and terrain as if they were not there but i wasnt sure if pivoting is considered moving or not.
So i called a judge and he agreed with my oponent which cost me 2 flyers just like that.
So is this right what do you guys think?

I just read the flyer rule and movement rules. It clearly says you can move through models and terrain as if they were not there.
Also, it says that models with the Fly keyword can move vertically to avoid terrain and scenari.
I d say you could have moved your Fkyer vertically, turn 90° then move.
In any case, you ignore other models during the movement phase, which for me is enough.

Yes I read through the flyer rules as well with a clear mind and in supersonic it clearly states "when this model moves, first PIVOT it on the spot"...
So to me pivoting is clearly a part of the move and since flyers ignore other models when moving it should be able to go wherever it pleases
I'm certain they were both wrong
