Prizes from the Dark City

At what point do you use this Stratagem?

Is this something I can use as circumstance calls for it, from game to game? Or is it considered part of list building to decide what additional Artefact of Cruelty I'll be using?

It simply says before the battle. I'd say anytime before you start depolying.

That said, I usually figure all of the ore-game stuff before the tournament starts. I like knowing exactly what everything is for practice. I'll probably never be top table, but it helps speed things along.

I take it as being part of listbuilding, and done before the game.

And on a related note...what if my Warlord is a Craftworlder ? ...just for example, really, and you should all know the thought disgusts me.

But anyways, let's say my Warlord is a Craftworlder, can I still use the Prizes from the Dark City Stratagem to equip one of my Drukhari Characters with an Artefact of Cruelty?

Yeah, that one's fine. Covered under the Death Guard FAQ (same principle applies here).

Q: If my army is led by a Chaos Space Marines Warlord, and I have a Detachment of Death Guard, can I use the Gifts of Decay Death Guard Stratagem to include a Relic on a Death Guard Character?
A: Yes. The only requirement to have access to Stratagems is that you have a Detachment of the
appropriate Faction. If you have a Death Guard Detachment, you have access to their Stratagems.

What is before the battle is nice and clear if you have a single game, as it means before deployment, and you could decide to tailor your relic to your opponent for example.

In a tournament it is a bit less clear. Some organisers will prefer you fix everything, so you could read 'before the battle' as 'before the tournament'. Others will let you customise each before the battle detail after you have seen the opponent's list. Best to check with the tournament organiser if it isn't listed in the pack.
