Except for drones. Drones it really depends. Take this example - 2 shield drones near a riptide. I know I have some big guns about to come his way and two splinter cannons....

Now, I could drop the cannons on him as well as the lances, blasters, dissies etc... or, I could use the cannons to drop the drones, thereby making any big guns that make it through really hurt.

Target priority and knowing when to shoot what are very important. Drones can also give away easy kill points if your mission has that...

Otherwise, just learn what your army can and can't do. Like always, we want to use our speed and relative range to only tackle part of your opponents army at one time. Break it up so its 25% of his vs 80% of yours. DE don't play fair - we play to win

I got an ouchy in round 5 and got tabled. it was a really fun game nevertheless

So. I did a lot of mistakes and most importantly i recognize them.

First round went insanely good, same with second round. I think i put his army down nearly 900 points and didnt loose anything except some wounds.

Then in round 3 i went all in and moved WAY to close with all my venoms(big mistakes) and most of my army. I wanted to try focus everything on his Riptide (It has 3 invul because of charge) and i wiffed so much. so so so much. And now everything of mine was so exposed when it was his turn in round 3 and this is where i suffered the loss imo.

I'm still very confused on what to prioritize, but im thinking the riptide doesnt matter that much because it only has 2 weapon profiles, so thats "only" 2 units he can target anyways.

His firewalkes die so easily and i should have focused these alot more.

He had some squishy mechs which i could have taken out easily aswell, but i went blind on the Riptide. Big mistake.

All in all i like this playstyle and i want to try it alot more but i cant stop thinking how good melee would be against Tau?

Glad to hear you had fun. DE are still a very much finesse army - you have to make the right moves and really know your ranges and your opponents etc..

Riptides can be stupidly resilient. I tend to either ignore it or bring what I need to drop it fast. TBH, I tend to run some CWE so have access to doom and jinx on it.

As to punching tau - if you can get there it is great, it's just the getting there part that can really hurt. Enter the vexator mask, which denies overwatch. There are some other tricks too that can be used. TBH, I would focus more on the list you ran and get more a feel for it and see what you do and don't like about it.

Very much finesse. Glass canon is extremely fun.

Yeah the vexator stuff. My first game i had with him i used only wych cult and i actually won, BUT we were both really new and he wasnt really "Tau-ing" it out yet.

But ye i will stick to this list for a while at least.

Got my eyes on buying some ravagers or RWJF soon

CWE = Craftworld Eldar.

The best and fastest way I found to drop a riptide is to use Eldar to put Doom (Re-roll failed wounds) and Jinx (Drop save by a factor of 1) and then unloading with everything. If he didn't use the 3++ nova charge, he has a 6++ Invul. If he did, a 4++ hurts too.

RWJF and ravagers are both very solid. Of the two I like the fighters more but think the ravagers are slightly more versatile in being able to take objectives etc.
