| Hi new to this forum. Going to paint a 1750p army until eastern 2013, when there´s a tournement. Since I have always played powerarmour-armies, I wanted to try something new. Really liked the DE figures. Not sure what paintscheme to take, but I know that I don´t want the same colourscheme on the infantry and vehicles. The vehicles will have a brown rusty colourscheme. Saw a converted venom on belloflostsouls. Was a merge between a vyper and the front from the new raider. I have a link, but as a new member Im not allowed to post it yet. But what about the infantry? No details or weapon have been painted on the testfigures, just the main colour. Weapons will be black/metal. Green: Blue: Pinkpurplered: Had only one rule about the painting, it need to be quickpainted. But I didn´t like the blue and green helmets, there I wanted some other colour. Not sure which one, but Im thinking about white or black.

| I think the green looks great, the washes (i assume there washes ) seem to work really well. The green would also look great with a bleached bone/(can't remember the name brown wash) loincloth with plenty of brass details- give it an ornate look. For the helmet, I don't really care for fluff, I would still try using the same colours, I think giving it a white helmet will make all the striking details not stand out and I think a black one would look silly. The helmets always look a bit off until the details are put in, some scorpion green eyes and some dry brushing of yellow around the edges to make it look like a glow will make the helmet look much better. If you don't want to do that, bleached bone may be an answer? | |

| I like the green the best. I goes quite well with the flesh loincloth, and will also fit nicely with a rusty brown scheme for your vehicles.
Bone helmets washed with Devlan Mud (similar to the gun?) might be a nice complement.

| Yes, Im using washes. Wanted to try a new technic at the same time, that I built a new army. Found the time for painting with washes was really quick. Decided to go for the green armour, and tried to paint one white and one black helmet. Not even going to show the black one. Grub was right, it looked silly! Tried yellow eyes, with red around them, but not happy about the result. The head turned out blurred on the picture, using a mobilephone (the head has to many layers of colour right now) Noticed that I dont own any brass or golden colours, so I used silver instead. But the hook at the loincloth, the symbol on the head and shoulderspikes are going to be brass instead of silver. Will try a green head next and see how that fits. | |

| look up Ulthwe eldar farseers, they quite often have bleached bone heads washed with devlan mud and look great. Personally i would make the loincloth a bit lighter, I think for the eyes you want a contrasting colour, something that's vivid and stands out, you could try purple or red maybe? I think a light shade wouldn't stand out as well.

| I agree with Grub: a purple glow effect on the eyes would stand out well IMHO(although I do play a purple army with teal accents... a little biased ) I really like your choice of green with the bone colored helmets. Very striking and simply effective. What colors/washes are you using? | |

I use a mix of both Vallejo game and model colours. For the wash I use citadel thrakka green, but I managed to spill it out. Now Im going to try the Vallejo green wash, since I already needed to buy some brass/bronze-colours. Decided to use green helmets on the regular warriors and wraithbone on the true born. When my colours arrive, I ´ll make a small tutorial with pictures how I paint the warriors. Now Im going try out the colours for the vehicles.

| I think that a strong brass color would look quite boss with your scheme. | |

| Small update. Started to tryout the corroded colourscheme for the vehicles, and sofar it looks good. Haven´t done any minor details or drybrushes yet. Need one more stippled layer with a more orange colour. 1. White prime 2. Vallejo Flat Earth 3. Black wash along the lines 4. Stippled Vallejo Cavalry Brown This side will be part of my crash-scenary, because I have a nudge that my raiders will be shot down | |

| Since I can´t paint, while iam waiting for my paints too arrive, I started to think about what HQ I wanted in my army. First I thought about the Succubus, always like a closecombat-HQ. Its just some basic kitbashing, and some minor cut´n´glue(CnG). Second thoughts! I swapped army because I wanted to play something new. I don´t like the Archon, feels like to many points to get something funny. But one or two Haemonculus would be fun, mostly because I love to convert my characters. Think I´ll give him a liquifiergun and scissorhand, seems like a standard 1a-outfit. Know there´s some moldlines, that needs a date with the knife. Not 100% sure about my army-build, can I post a discussion under the "Army Lists"-subforum or do I have to post a finished armylist there? I could post it here, but I would prefer to keep it seperated from the painting/modelling. Thanks too Local_Ork, for the tutorial for posting "gallery"style. | |

| I switched from GW Thrakka green wash too Vallejo Green wash and discovered that GW´s wash is much more glossy than the Vallejo. But I liked the result better. PIP, step 1-5.(Step 5 is taken with a flash, didn´t managed to focus with my mobilphone). 1+2, White primer and one layer with "GW Devlan mud wash": 3, Two layers with "Vallejo Green wash": 4, One layer with "GW Badab black wash": 5, Finally, one layer with "GW Thrakka Green wash": Step 5 was added because the modell looked to mat(right word? Opposite to glossy.). 1.5h I painted 4 figures all 5 steps, and 4 figures 3steps. All was primed yesterday. Still working on the first Venom: | |

| Misplaced the SC for my Venom, can´t find it Somehow the red was brought forward from the photo, but you can´t see it so clear on the model. Just need to add some symbols, and some details like the SC | |

| Thanks for the tutorial, Gaston. Your warriors look great, it's a very efficient and effective way to paint them. The Venom looks great as well, a 'veteran' as they say Nice weathering effects overall, you might want to add a few to the canopy frame, it's not clear if you have already or not? | |

| @Gobsmakked, I haven´t weathered the canopy frame yet. Still thinking if I should do it or not. If you look on the leftside(looking in the venoms point of direction), you can see a handle for openingen the canopy. If the hinge is on the top, maybe the canopy is not made for openingen?
If I had the halfopen canopy, then I wouldn´t doubt about weathering that part. But Im not sure now. Maybe if they had repaired it, and changed the canopy. How would the damaged have been, for an example if the canopy had been torned off from the damage?
@GAR, Thanks. | |

| My router crashed after 8y of use, so I have been without internet for 2 weeks now. Not having the time for lokking and buying a new router, so I borrowed one from a friend. So I could aleast read some reviews before I buy a new one. But atleast I had some time for some painting. Sofar Im working on two raiders and one Venom. Quick tutorial for my vehicle-paintscheme_ First layer is a basecoat with Army Painter Leather brown: Second layer is Vallejo Cavalry brown stippled onto the raider: Third layer is Vallejo Orange brown stippled onto the raider: Forth layer is Vallejo Light orange, that I stippled a large "blop" first and then smothed it out with my finger: The weathering is started with "stabbing" the brush against the lower edge with Vallejo Black: Now I need to assemble three Ravager for my coming weekendgame. | |
