Group Advice Needed!!!!

Howdy y'all,

Been away from the forums for a couple of months, been busy with a new job, and the holidays of course.

I have a pretty solid group of friends who all play 40k, our nearest GW store is ~30 minute drive away, and as our Ork player is essentially hand crafting all his own stuff, we usually end up just playing at one of our houses and maybe get a game in once a month, super casual stuff. Lately though, some of the guys have started to stray from 40k and I'm totally ok with that, LOTR, AoS, DFC, DnD, Video Games, you name it, all good hobbies.

What I'm looking for in making this post is 2 things.

1. How have you personally gotten yourself out of a non 40k rut

2. What do you do with your communities to make things fun?

Should we try a planetary invasion campaign? should we try playing each other's armies? Totally open to ideas, just looking for some insight.

Campaigns are fun, and if some of you have weaker armies you could invent some rules to give a player some benefit in future games if he has lost 2 times in a row or something like that.

I haven't tried it yet, but the Vigilius Defiant campaign book looks like fun.

Think like a dark eldar. Have you considered kidnapping your friends ?

Hoh that's an idea. Maybe free some free upgrades on units that have performed well. I'll give the Vigilus campaign a quick google and check that out. Thanks for the idea!

I have actually attempted a quick kidnapping, but beers and pretzels can only trap them for an afternoon.
