Returning player looking for guidance in 1k points

Hello fellow True Kin,

after years of not playing 40k for different reasons (the catastrophic rule set and update policy being one of them) my local club has started to pick 40k up again. I just returned from 6 months abroad and thus, am late to the party.

I will play some warm-up games at 1k points on Friday, which will probably go up to 1,5k+ in the following weeks.

Model-wise I have multiples of everything except coven stuff and RWJFs (only 1 Talos, 1 Flyer), so go nuts with suggestions. From my first look at the "new" rules, I think going Kabal with 3 Dissie Ravagers is probably a solid start.

You for sure want to start with a couple or 3 Ravagers with Dis Cannons.

After that play what you want, if you like Coven get more, if you like the Kabal vehicle feel get RWJF's.

Ok here's my list. Already looks pretty min-maxed, but with the new detachment restrictions of no mixing things, I found it hard to get a cult element like a unit of bikes into my 1k points.

Any comments, criticism, maybe ideas how to make the list a little more diverse even if it ends up less competetive. It's about getting back into the game, so a nice balanced list might be good for starters.

A cult detachment of 9 bikes n Succubus would set you back 221pts base so you might consider dropping the Kabal down to a spearhead and taking a batallion of wyches in Raiders instead if you're keen to get them in. Could also drop a lot of the wargear down to Venomblade and Splinter pistol on the labrynthine archon since he will be sat back with the raiders saving some points youd only be able to fit one raider in though I think

Comes to 982pts, so youd be lacking a bit of anti tank but have enough cp to get 2 WL traits and 3 Relics easily, and still have cp for everything else.

I made a second list, similar to the one GIzamaluke suggested, however I didn't like the lack of wargear options in that one so I ended up with a battalion and a patrol.
The list is as follows:

Red Grief Patrol

5 Wyches, Agonizer -44

6 Reavers, stock -114

Total 999pts

Any suggestions? I went with Red Grief to help out the Reavers with a potential first turn charge. Succubus and 2nd Archon will ride with Wyches in one of the Raiders, Kabalites take Venom and Second Raider. The Succubus should be great to take out HQs with a 3++ in melee, the non-WL Archon can help. Wyches are Agonizer delivery.

In firepower I'm a little light on anti-Infantry, but I have 8 multi-purpose Dissies so unless I face 120 Boyz I should be fine. What do you think?

Same situation myself actually, been out for a long time and looking at returning. Started with a 2k list and looking at what 1k list I can make from the units that go in to the 2k list. So far I’ve got;

Just debating what I could do with the remaining points.

Just remember the rule of 2 for 1000pts Greshym. You will have to drop that 3rd Ravager.

Rule of 2?

There is a chart they added to the BRB saying how many detachments and duplicates you can have at different points values. At 1000pts it's up to 2 detachments and no more than 2 of any datasheet. (Troops and transports don't have this limit)
