| With what we have seen on point re balancing (3 units is not a large sample size TBH), I see that being the major factor on what 9th armies will look like more than rule changes. If some units are going up by 50% and others by less than 10%, the Meta will certainly need to adapt.
Just wish we knew how to plan around the new detachments, and a hint on how our transports will get point costed. If we are all going for Raiding Force detachments in 9th, Im guessing my list will not be the only one that needs major changes.

| Well it seems pre orders in July, so early Aug is full release. They also said the app builder will be out too. If it really is out that day we can see all the points right away. | |

| Very nice.
I have started thinking of how to build a list around the triple Patrol Detachment (Im assuming that the Raiding Force is our primary army building method in 9th). Coven and Kabal units are pretty obvious what we will be choosing for our single Elite/Heavy Support slots. Not so sure with Wych Cults though. Maybe Reavers will make a come-back (points depending of course).

Real, also we found out that the Terrain feature Defensible lets you choose between overwatching on 5+, or +1 to hit in the next fight phase. Still need to use Strat or other ability to allow over watch. Also Tau will still Tau. to what degree we do not know?Tau get 2 for 1 on the Strat. Also you can deploy into combat from reserves in your deployment zone. Your opponent cannot zone out your board edge.

Yeah, but to be fair they can still fire while they are in combat. Suddenly, it looks like Tau is going to be a much more interesting army with need for chaff and... synergy?

Do you mean the stratagem that makes one unit do damage even if somehting touches them or the tanks in 9th? Because tau tanks have fly Ah you're still mad about shield drone spam

Ah you're still mad about shield drone spam MC and vehicles can shoot at a unit they are in melee with in 9th now, (other than blast weapons), its a new core rule.

| I'm thoroughly looking forward to limited overwatch, that, with the new dependence on terrain, is going to make a very exciting edition. | |

| I think that overwatch becoming a stratagem helps us more than it hurts us, so compared to armies like T'au (that only fire but never receive overwatch), we're better off. And Harlequins with their Hit-and-Run tactics are going to be crazy now they don't have to worry that much about overwatch. 9th might even be more of a melee edition that a shooting edition, depending on other rules changes. | |

| I am loving all the buffs to Grotesques. 1-3 point increase per model (very tentative assumption I admit) Terrain now fully blocking LOS if you are not inside (and it is 5" tall) Overwatch being costly to the enemy I am seeing a renaissance for our Coven brothers in 9th | |

| Yeah i got out my Cronos honestly lol. I am painting them up now, i only ever used 1 from 7th for a formation. Now i am taking 3 in DT. Well for now until Unaligned gets shorted out that is. | |

| People are clammoring that now all wych armies with reavers and hellions are viable. In my opinion, they got much, much worse.
The reaper got better. Yeah, that's about it. Maybe the talos and cronos? Problem is, I am 100% SURE the talos is going way way up in price.

| Today's Adepta Sororitas Faction Focus article contains the mention of 2 rules changes in 9th edition.
The first is a change to character targeting. Characters (with <9W) cannot be targeted if they are within 3" of a vehicle, monster, or friendly unit that has at least 3 models, unless they are the closest enemy unit and visible to the firing model.
The second is a change to multi-charges. If you declare a multi-charge, you have to roll high enough to get within engagement range of all units you declared a charge on. Otherwise, the charge fails completely.

| I see a lot of venom shots wiping a 3" bubble around an enemy character and then dark lancing said character right off the board. | |

Until Reavers and Hellions unit rules change they just don't do enough damage for their points, still not viable. - krayd wrote:

Will have to see the book amendments first for final judgement.

| I am both looking forward to and dreading the Druhkari faction focus now ... it could either be great, or soul crushing, for the Dark Kin, i really hope there is a glimpse of something new in the focus and possible changes to the court ... and army structure ... or it could show a lot of hype for absolutely no changes to rules or structure | |

| For now some units are going to be stupidly hard to keep live with new Look our Sir rules. Like the Yncarne.

| I think this almost guarantees a change to how the court works. Whilst we can be 'down' and say that GW will forget about us, they've already mentioned that there will be a change to raiding force, so I'd be surprised if the court isn't also touched on. | |

In my opinion, they got much, much worse. So sad, so true. I ran two Batallions (one Kabal, one Cult) in 8th but that was mostly for CP and fun. But Reavers can't tie up tanks in combat and why take Wyches when you can take Kabalites or Wracks instead? Coven can tie-up enemy infantry too but is less likely to be shot down. I do see potential in Hellions against tanks, but they are not worth an own Wych Cult detachment. If anything, Incubi benefit the most if you want some melee goodness. The only way I see Wych Cults being viable if they got back Haywire Grenades. Imagine issuing a single Haywire attack in melee on every Reaver, or every second Hellion/Wych. Suddenly, they are extremely versatile units with decent damage output. Alternatively, make Haywire Grenades more scarce but force hit tanks to use a lower profile for one round. That would be so amazing. Edit: I do wonder how much an air wing is going to cost? Test of Skill Razorwings/Voidravens did not lose their appeal. But unless GW really put much thought into Wych Cults, I fear that a Cult Airwing is all I'm going to play.
