| Subject: Haemonculus Coven - Power Level 80 / 1578 Points Sat Jul 11 2020, 17:48 | |
| I made a post a few days ago mentioning it's been years since I played this game. Had a read in the Drukhari Codex in the meanwhile and constructed my army list based on what I think should be okay. I'm aware that it's a bit difficult to give me advise on whether or not this is a proper list with regards to the unreleased 9th edition, but I guess most of you veterans can tell me if it's complete trash or maybe give some pointers. That being said, I prefer not to buy extra units, allthough in truth, you can't really have a Haemonculus Coven and not have Urien Rakarth and I guess I could go for an extra Wrack unit and possibly a 3rd Talos unit for the 2nd squad of Talos, as I originally purchased 5 of them when I played years ago, due to the Corpsethief Claw formation of 5 Talos and the Cronos I purchased because of the Scarlet Epicurean formation. But anyway, for now, I'd rather not purchase extra units. Also, I got into a discussion with a friend of mine and he'd rather not use Power Level instead of Points. Truth be told, I'm a bit unbiased about this. I can see how Power level could work out fine. I've read a couple of articles on how the game isn't really that well balanced to begin with, even when working with points rather than Power level. What I like about Power level is that you can just put everything on your model you want it to have and I'm trying to convince him to consider playtesting a couple of rounds based on Power level. Anyway, here's the list and i`ll add some commentary as well, because I think I might have gotten a couple of point calculations wrong. So yeah it's an 80 Power level list, but I did do the calculations for the points as well, so here goes and added some pictures on how I painted them. I've posted them as the formations I used to field them, but I'm aware those Formations are sadly not longer valid. SCARLET EPICUREANS(1) Haemonculus 70Liquifier Gun 11Scissorhand 8Electrocorrosive Whip 6 (5) Wracks 45Ossefactor 7Hexrifle 5Venom Blade 2 (1) Venom 55Splinter Cannon 10Chain-snares 2Grisly Trophies 2 (5) Wracks 45Ossefactor 7Hexrifle 5Venom Blade 2 (1) Venom 55Splinter Cannon 10Chain-snares 2Grisly Trophies 2(1) Cronos 65Spirit Vortex 10Spirit Probe 5GROTESQUERIES(1) Haemonculus 70Liquifier Gun 11Scissorhand 8Electrocorrosive Whip 6 (3) Grotesques 96Liquifier Guns 22 (1) Raider 65Disintegrator Cannon 15Chain-snares 2Grisly Trophies 2Phantasm Grenade Launcher 3Shock Prow 1(3) Grotesques 96Liquifier Guns 22 (1) Raider 65Disintegrator Cannon 15Chain-snares 2Grisly Trophies 2Phantasm Grenade Launcher 3Shock Prow 1(side note, those Grotesques used to have some form of a champion, which is why I had them outfitted with Agonisers, only to find out that this is now illegal. Really annoying, because I don't want to just drop these models and be forced to buy new ones, so now those tendrils are just place-holder meat-hooks, allthough I think they should just be outfitted with Liquifier Guns instead.) CORPSETHIEF CLAW(3) Talos 225Twin Liquifier Guns 66Talos Gauntlets 45Haywire Blasters 48 (2) Talos 150Twin Liquifier Guns 44Talos Gauntlets 30Haywire Blasters 32(the codex mentions the Splinter Cannons can be replaced by two Haywire Blasters, so I literally paid 2x 8 points for them. Not sure if I made a mistake here. Also, looking at the picture you`ll see that their tail weapons aren't actually all Haywire Blasters. When I constructed this army, I had no idea what weapons would be useful, same goes for their arm-weapons. I guess on an official tournament, some players will moan about this right?) Thanks for reading and looking forward to your opinion. Btw, it's a Prophets Of Flesh list. Still think the +4 invulnerable save is probably the best, but please correct me on anything you feel like is a silly choice. | |
