Hi all,

Good news, Warcom has announced the Dark Angels Preview/Pre-order Codex date. The Dark Angels Codex has been given a pre-order date as this weekend (30th Jan) meaning it will be a February release.

This puts our codex in a high chance of a late Feb pre-order/release in early March .

Warhammer Community has posted the below:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/01/24/sunday-preview-angels-of-darkness/

Exciting times!

Love that avitar/thread title! So sad that show is no longer on the air.

It is great news. Maybe we will get some love in the form of hints/leaks over the next few weeks.

Most of our model range is currently In Stock, would recommend anyone else who is low on Reavers to grab a few now (I just placed an order)

Thanks Fisheyes!

I loved the show too, especially that the professor saying "Good news everyone!" usually meant bad news for the crew, though I hope that isn't the case for us. Very Happy

I hear possible release dates of the 27th of Feb or the 13th of March on many a tongue.

Many gifts of Vect on the way I hope.

Good luck with the promotion Kalmah, we need more slaves for the dark city!

Thanks JRG! Smile All my hard earned money will than be spent for the glory of Commorragh!

Futurama was indeed a really great show! A suicide Machine would be a good thing to have in Commorragh (but only with the option of long and painful death) lol.

There is actually a company that made a suicide machine as a terrain piece for 40k. They called it confession machine I think, as confessing that you have sinned against the emperor is for most imperial citizens like committing suicide.

what i find funny with the lore of 40k: from the start they want to make you think as if the Emperium were the good guys and everything else was evil.......but as soon as you dive a little bit deeper in the lore......are they truly the good guys? Wink Its almost philosophical in the end.....after all, nothing is as simple as good vs evil, its all a matter of perspective.....lol i don't know why the suicide machine topic have lifted those thought in my mind.....

Drukhari are the good guys right, we are just farmers we enjoy our craft. It's those who fight for power and other such things who are bad... Twisted Evil

Gotta go, those souls won't reap themselves! Cool

And therein lies the problem with the lore. Not a massive negative, but a missed opportunity. The "good guys" are actually not so great. But they still fight unquestionable evil. None of the "bad guys" are morally grey.

Chaos is, well, out to destroy I guess.
Tyranids consume.
We couldnt do anything good if we tried.
Orks live for destruction.
Necrons just hate everyone.

Tau are "good guys", with For the Greater Good as their darker side.
Eldar are out to stop Chaos and save their dying race, which is "good guy" territory, but do so at the expense of everyone else.
The Imperium are THE "good guys", except actually not at all.

Like, theres grim dark, and then there is "yeah, it all sucks and there is no nuance". Where are the worlds fallen to Chaos that are spared and are thriving, cut off from the tyranny of the empire? Where are the... wait, no, thats the only way any of the bad guys could have a good side. And the current set of chaos gods in 40k would never do that.

Um... maybe we need Tzneetch? He seems like the sort of guy that would actually free worlds from the imperium to use as success stories to gain even more followers.

That sums it up pretty well. Personally, I think 40k works best when there is a sense of tragedy to it, but that requires a hit of subtly first.

Btw. I can recommend the story mode of Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2. It's easily the best 40k story I've experienced in years.

Well, its pretty clear this is a scenario of "no good guy, just shades of black".

I would argue that the Orcs are probably the closest to a "good guy".

1 - They dont lie. Its all about "might is right", and anyone can be the biggest. No hypocrasy here
2 - They are free. Nobody really stops orcs from going places and doing things. Just their normal socital vilence

In 40k, the above is pretty big. Dont think any other race can claim those 2 points, not even the Tau

That is a rare definition for being a good guy. So anyone being restricted by moral concepts is not really free and the evil guy? Gives a new viewpoint to all the superhero movies.

And for the grey areas, I do think you all give most factions fewer credits then they deserve.
For Drukhari:
You want to drill holes in your bones and attach wings to your body? Who cares it is your own body. You want to implant Tyranid body parts? Again it is your body. GW avoids topics like skin tone, gender or sexual preferences, but Drukhari seem to not discriminate based on so minimal differences.
They also have access to weapons of mass destruction, we can be glad that other factions don't have. For example, the void mine, remove the safety shield, drop it via webway portals, slaves or machines. A method, for example, Orks or the Imperium would gladly use, but the Drukhari are not interested in slaughtering the whole universe, they mostly don't kill just for the killing (like Orks) or to get rid of someone (like the Imperium). They also let others live as they want. Sure they take slaves, but they don't try to force their way of living onto civilisations(like T'au) or just destroy every other way of live (most other factions).

If the Imperium (or its ancestors) had left the Warp alone, none of what happens in the 41st millenium would have happen. The Chaos gods where doing there little thing in their own worlds, playing their great game. Its just when those wretched humans tried to enter the Warp that everything went upside down. And for what purpose they did that? To colonize the galaxy for their own purpose.....now that's something evil!

Tyrannids just want to eat, who can blame them?

Orks just want to fight to become stronger, and they always try to find more worthy opponent, they don't attack the weaks.

As for us, Drukhari, we are only a little bit too much epicurean.....we have no bad intentions, only to live our life to the fullest!! (lol i know i'm being sarcastic a little bit here) but we have not goal of complete domination of the galaxy....

On a more serious note, about my last point regarding the Drukhari, what i think we miss right now to gain access to a lot of love from GW, is that we are not in a good position to have a good story driven narrative right now.....after all were just a bunch of space pirates that love to f*** around when the occasion rise.......nothing there to build a good story......we would need something that will push us to the front show if we want to receive some love and new models.
I know it wont please everyone, but i still believe we will need to do something regarding the Innaris and Slaanesh, and what i think would be the best and would open some doors to us, is if we could try to make an alliance with Slaanesh to stop those Innaris. That way we could start again to use Psycher or else have an alliance with Slaanesh Daemons (a-la Thousand Sons with Tzeentch).
After all we are the creators of Slaanesh!

I disagree we have a civil war, the rise of the Mandrakes, Khaine's Gate and whatever Guilliman is speculating in novels, the words in our codex timeline that the great rift is a result of the opened gate is written from an outside viewpoint, not a person inside the story guessing a reason.

And we have Aurelia Malys, with the hearth of the laughing god, the perfect emissary for the last living Aeldar god. But then someone at GW thought they want a Craftworld Eldar in that role, copied the relevant part even down to Sword and Fan and Yvraine was born. I know exaggerated, but a big part of the Ynarri story would have also worked with Lady Malys and Harlequins and you cannot say that the authors were not at least aware of Lady Malys.

i don't read Black Library books (maybe i should....Wink ) so i'm not aware of every plots and twists...
The Khaine's Gate could indeed lead to an interesting story.....or could lead to our own demise....gulp! Shocked
The civil war or Mandrakes sadly won't bring us to the forefront of the war in the Galaxy, but could be good stories........but not something that will create a lot of additional models other than an HQ for Mandrakes (now that would be sick!!!) if something comes out of it.

My best bet is it has to do something regarding the Ynnaris and Slaanesh if we really want to receive a WOW moment that will give us some momentum. It's only a feeling that i have, i'm not saying that this is what will happen Wink I just don't think we are in a good position right now to receive love a-la Necron with their C-tan shards and silent King, and i'm not even talking about the absence of love from GW regarding the Eldars.

The funny thing is, is GW has placed tidbits throughout the codecies, black library books and campaigns that lead me to believe the druhkari play a far far far bigger role in the galaxy then what is presented to us, there's a passage implying it's Druhkari technology keeping the corpse emperor alive on his throne, there is a ton of snippets about our massive knowledge of the tyrannids and can even break them off from the hive mind, it's pretty commonly known that the Aeldari as a whole (craft world's harlequins and us) are ancient enemies of the necrons I think it was Fabius Bile (I don't really remember his name) studied his craft under the Heamonculus in exchange for space marine gene seed (new coven monsters right there) ... so there is plenty to take from but I think as soulless has said GW is just lazy when it comes to us only getting motivated by "we need to update them cause everyone is being updated"

I mean... it was more the rampant psykers, getting possessed by daemons, the chaos gods inherently don't "do they're little thing in their own worlds".
And if we go back even further, we can lay the blame entirely on the Old Ones and ancient Eldar for weaponizing the realm of souls against the necrons. So blame the necrons. But blame the star gods for revitalising the necrontyr into the necrons. But potentially blame the necrons for betraying the ctan and (possibly) causing the ctan to make their home star turn hostile.

I personally think lorewise Vect was in a better position for a big story arc then the silent king. Actually with Pariah Nexus they took a pretty small solution, let's seperate a sector and let Marines and Necrons fight in this arena. I think they were looking for small impact not big with the silent king or more likely they designed the new Necrons first and later tried to build a lore reason.
Just the premise in phoenix rising would have been a base for a much greater campaign. In the core it is three sided war between Yvraine, Vect and Slaanesh. But Vect pulled the Imperium into it by infiltrating the command structure of the Astra Militarum, so this also is a thread for the imperium, and i would not say that is a minor thread. So it could be easily expanded to four factions. With Chaos, Eldar, Imperium already in, only T'au would need a reason. Orks and Tyranids don't really need a reason to fight/feed, but still alittle lore why they happen to be there.

the more i read you all, the more you make me happy to be an ignorant! You put to light a lot of stuff i wasnt aware (sorry btw if you find my posts to be naive or noobish, i'm still new to the game and haven't read anything other than the Core book, Codexes and Psychic Awakening).
Now with all those stuff taken into account.......COME ON GW!!! we have indeed a lot of stuff going on that could result in far greater stories! And with great stories will come new models (at least i hope lol)!

The Dark Eldar trillogy was pretty good.

There was also a short story where some DE dude was trying to get an old weapon called "the heart" or some such. It turned everyone on the planet into a zombie, and the inquisition were involved. Was really cool to see how the DE were in it just for the LULZ, and didnt really care about the outcome. The real motive was just to "experience feeling" or whatever. It was a truly bizzar and alien motive, which totally fits and I would love to see more along those lines.
