Kabal of the Purple Sorrow, 1500 competitive/fun

Hello. I am posting a 1500 point list to take to my new( to me) FLGS. It will be the first game I have played about 4 years.

Archon, shadowfield, angonizer, phantasm grenade launcher. 135

Elites: 1 unit 273 points.

Incubi 9 no upgrades

transport : raider, aethersails, flickerfield.

Troops: 3 units

1 unit of warriors. , 9 guys plus 1 sybarite. blaster, splinter cannon, sybarite gets close combat and splinter pistol. 205
Transport raider with flickerfield and splinter racks.

1 unit of warriors same load out 205

1 unit of wyches , 9 ladies and 1 hekatrix,, no special weapons but hekatrix gets agonizer. wyches get haywire grenades. 225 pts

Raider with flickerfield and sails.

Fast attack: 1 unit 226

1 unit of reavers. 7 guys and 1 arena champion. 2 blasters. Champion gets power weapon.

Heavy : 2 units

1 Ravager flickerfield 115
1 ravager flickerfield. 115

total 1499

Hi there lakegamer, I like the looks of the list but would make some pointers from what I have heard and seen.

~1: I don't know if you already own the models or you just like them allot but I when I use them I find they are only useful against the more basic levels of MEQ. When you put them up against other dedicated assault MEQ the lack of a invulnerable save can cost you big time. If I was running a Archon against the big scary's of real-space I would rather travel with some hot ladies over Incubi. The 4++ save will keep your entourage kicking around for a good while.

~2: If you made this change |or not| I would use some extra points for the ninth reaver with a heat lance. As a matter of fact I would change all blasters for heat lanced because They are good at destroying tanks; probably more so than blasters IMO.

Those are my only oppinions... sorry for the long winded explinations but I had time to kill.

Also, Aethersails are pretty much useless unless you need to get across a really big table. You could save a few points by taking them off. Then you should have enough points for some special weapons for the Wyches.

I was having a hard time choosing wytch weapons.. how about hydragauntles?

Yes i have a big batch of models i got of a guy giving up the hobby about 8 years ago

but i have a lot of wyches! Smile

Ok made some changes. Please review and post.

HQ: 2 ( added haemonculus)
Archon, shadow field, phantasm grenade launcher, agoniser
Haemonculus, mindphase gauntlet

Troops: 2
1. warriors. 10 , blaster, splinter cannon, raider with darklance and flicker field. ( took off racks and sails) and sarge
2. Wytches 10 with hekatrix, ( agoniser) , 2 shardnets haywire grenades, raider with flickers

i droped one warrior units

Elites: 2

1) Incubi 7 ( dropped 2)
raider with flicker,


2) blaster born ( i bought a venom from the flgs)
4 guys with blasters,, venom has splinter cannon upgrade

Fast attack 1

1 Reaver 9 ,, 3 blasters, arena champion with agoniser

Heavy support 2

1 ravager with flicker field
2 ravager with flicker field.

this comes to 1498

only 2 troop squads

id probably put that splinter rack back on the gunboat and get rid of the blaster as its basically wasted or 9 other models are wasted per turn.

If you're wondering...

Q: Must passengers fire at the same target that their
vehicle is firing at? (p66)
A: No, they are a separate unit (albeit they are
temporarily co-existing with the vehicle) and so can fire
at a different target.

If you are running the Archon with the Incubi I would recommend dropping the Shadowfield for a Clonefield. You usually aren't going to have much swinging back at you with that many Incubi swinging at I5. The Ghostplate also can be a bit redundant with that many 3+ armor saves in the unit. These two drops will give you almost enough points (with the two that you are short of 1500) to buy another Incubi.

Disclaimer-I don't use an Archon much, but used one like this with a unit of Grotesques. He didn't do much, but he didn't die either!
