| Going for a game this weekend against my mates lunchboxes, current list (No HQ yet:)
Heavy: 2xRavagers- Dark Lances, Flicker fields- Talos Pain Engine- Heat lances- (wwp?) Troops: 5x Warriors-Blaster- 5x Warriors-Blaster- 10x Wyches-Haywire Grenades-(in raider A) 10x Wyches-Haywire Grenades- (in raider B) 10x Wyches-Haywire Grenades- (wwp) Elites: 4x Trueborn-Blasters-(Raider C) 4x Trueborn-Blasters- (In Venom) 4x Trueborn-Blasters-(wwp) Transports: Venom-Extra cannon 3xRaiders-Flickerfields, Dark Lance
Going for a bit of a gamble, going to use the ravagers very aggressively, maybe even deep strike. The Talos is always a scary thing so I hope to somehow have it lumbering out of a web way at some point to soak up some fire and rip through some things. Not a lot to deal with the men but hopefully the wyches will be able to alpha strike and either multi assault his transports or even better be able to assault the men immediately to get them off the field. Might work, could equally do a proverbial dump on the carpet, we will see...

| Unless I missed an FAQ, Ravagers are not transports? They are open topped skimmers but do not have a transport capacity. Would be nice though..... | |

| Don't know why I thought they had a 5 man transport capacity... That's probably why you shouldn't compose a list at 12:30am without a codex and after a few beers! | |

I did my best (so far) Ork Biker list that way... IG is very bad matchup for us, mainly because they negate our two main strengths - Lance rules and Poison (in fact, T3 make it even worse!). I think that Wyches are essential. IG players I play often leave Platoons outside tanks (to literally act as meat shield), so multiple charges are must. Also use speed to get soft AV10, most Guard armies are stuck in deployment without ability to turn their tanks (for above reason). Beasts works pretty good. Rending ftw, inv ftw. I would also try 1-2 planes. Yes, they WILL die but may help to clear some infantry (if they are tightly packed). Best reserve them so they wouldn't die. Baron is useful, since You negate 1 turn of enemy shooting.

| Thinking of using the baron as my HQ, never had much success with razorwings, I really want to get some beasts, just can't afford them! | |

| Well, people make Khymeres from other GW kits, like LotR Wargs, Chaos Warhounds and upcoming SW doggies. As for Razorwings, Scarabs come in mind (tho I'm SURE GW will demand gazillions for them now). I don't know, You may use skulls with sculpted flames, like Lost Souls from Doom games. | |

| One of the best Razorwings conversions i saw was aligned lower blades from raiders. They have that really subtle metallic-organic menacing look if the paitning is correct. | |

| Mission Accomplished ! Tried a very menacing list compiling lots of the tricks here which resulted in a table wipe in 2 different cases! List came to 2000points as follows: HQ: Baron Sathonyx 3x Haemonicles (with Wyches) Troops: 9x Wyches +Haywire Grenades (in raider) 9x Wyches +Haywire Grenades (in raider) 9x Wyches +Haywire Grenades (in raider) 10x Warriors +Splintercannon and Blaster Elites: 4x Blasterborn (In Venom) 4x Blasterborn (In Venom) 4x Blasterborn (In Venom) Fast Attack: 5 Reavers+ Blaster+Cluster caltrops Heavy: 2x Ravagers w/FF and NS Talos w/Liquifier + Heat lances Transports: 3x Raiders w/FF 3x Venoms w/extra cannon + Grisly trophies
Both times gained first turn (+1 helped). Simply overwhelmed him with potential targets and multi-assaults with Wyches. The Venoms full of Blasterborn are the real stars. That mobility and firepower tops a ravager every time- each squad getting at least 2+ vehicles each. Reavers were a waste of time until the lunchboxes were opened, then bladevanes did lots of the work but in future may exchange these for another squad of warriors. Thanks for the tips all.

| Glad to see that Baron and more AT firepower helped you stomp the IG around some. That's how DE should feel versus IG | |

| I notice with some disbelief that no one seems to have discussed this topic since the release of 6th edition. Now the Codex: Astra Militarum is upon us and I think we are overdue in seeing this thread revived. With all the changes to our tactics does anyone have any new thoughts? | |

Holy threadomancy! Let's start a new thread rather than revive a nearly 2-year-old thread from a previous edition. Locking this thread.
