| To all my fellow Archons,
I have a 2v2 3k pt each Apocalypse battle coming up on sunday and i am still undecided, well actually at a complete loss as to which Strategic Asset to take with me. I have 2 Lists currently one with lots of Wyches in transports backed up with the usual Incubi, Blasterborn, Razorwings, the other still with lots of Wyches but only half in transports and some Jetbikes, Scourges, Cronos and Bloodbrides and some Warriors in transports as well as the above.
Would Flank March or the Webway Assault be good (cant remember the exact rules but have a rough idea of what they do) for the 2nd more footslogging list or take the meched up 1st list and a different asset.
Thoughts please
PS apologies if i posted in the wrong section just seemed the right place to put it

| Who you're facing and who you're allied with are both important questions.
Flank March appears to be considered one of the most powerful assets in Apoc - with many groups considering it "broken" when paired with Careful Planning. This will serve your mech list quite well also - perhaps it will serve them even better.
WWP Assault is excellent - it's basically a Flank March but one that your opponents will have a harder time calling cheesy.
Obstacles is also a very powerful asset that many players overlook. From building an impregnable fortress for your units, cutting off the board from enemy armor, or just lining the back of your deployment zone with tank traps to gak with Flank March it has a lot of applicable options available to it.
I'm also a pretty solid fan of the Disruptor Beacon as it will slow the ability of the enemy to go where they wish.

In our Apoc group it can only be taken to the units that can already outflank , or to those who get this asset by formation. It is indeed close to broken.

| Which kind of Eldar army has your mate? It's footdar, mechdar or hybrid? Because if it's mech, then your side is all mech and deep strike (deamons)...
Careful planning for daemons and Eldar, Flank March for you. Daemons deepstriking can be really nerfed by GKs, so planning could help a bit... or maybe Disruption beacon, so deepstriking Gk couldn't make a "safe zone".
Definitely, flank march is the best choice for dark eldar, for game and fluff...

| In the end I went with flank march and am very glad I did. I took a major beating turns 1 and 2 as my friend (using 3000pts of just eldar) decided to reserve almost all his army so the majority of mine had to endure 6000pts of Marines and GK shooting. Thank god for all the cover I had!!!! Walked on my Bloodbrides, 20 Wyches and my Incubi and Archon in turn 3 (using Flank March) and contested 2 objectives with them, as well as killing 2 venerable dreads (woohoo haywires), and a GK Librarian and Paladin squad (thank god for farseers.....2 psychic powers attempted, 2 perils LOL). In the end we won, 2 objectives claimed by ourselves 1 claimed by the Emperors finest, 1 unclaimed and 2 contested. Epic and brutal battle!!! | |
