1500pt Shadows of WWP's Empty
PostSubject: 1500pt Shadows of WWP's   1500pt Shadows of WWP's I_icon_minitimeSun Jan 22 2012, 09:47

So Tuesday I will probably be playing against Space Wolves or Greyknights. Or both in a Free for All.
I have been tweaking my 1500pt WWP list like mad to get the most killyness out of it and I am kind of at this point. So I need your opinions!

(On the table)
Hamie 1 = Venom Blade, WWP
Hamie 2 = Liquifire, Venom Blade, WWP
3xBlasterBorn
Venom w/ Splinter Cannon

Ravager w/ FF
Ravager w/ FF

(In reserves coming out of WWP's)
Baron
9x Hellion = Helliarch w/ Stunclaw and Splinter Pistol
10x Wracks = 2x Liquifier Gun, Acothysts w/ Scissorhand
10x Wracks = 2x Liquifier Gun, Acothysts w/ Scissorhand
6x Reaver Jetbikes = 2x Heat Lances
3x Grotesques = a Liquifier Gun, Aberration w/ Scissorhand
5x Mandrakes

How the list works.
I deploy everything hugging cover like the Scared little girl I am.
The venom moves 12" forward shooting things while the two Hamies get out and drop there WWP's. Ravagers go about shooting things.

When the Grotesques show up they hook up with the Hamie 1. The Mandrakes will hook up with Hamie 2 netting his pain token while he walks away acting like the pyro from lethal weapon 4; so the Mandrakes can use Fleet.

By then there should be massive CC confusion going on and my reavers, and hellions can just pick on who ever they want. Twisted Evil

also I have 9 free points left.

Looks pretty good, I've been trying to go for something similar, a couple of problems I can though...

if theres no cover, your WWPs might not be close enough to the enemy to get the 2nd turn assult... also having such a small squad with 2 WWPs could see them die pretty fast... also if both of them are dead... your grotesques will be useless... I'd suggest puttin the 2 haemies with 4 of them in the raider & doing the same thing... your WWPs could end up being 12" apart & your grotesques will have 3 pain tokens.

Also drop the mandrakes & get more Tureborn with blasters

I will make sure there is cover!

Joking aside

Honestly It's only affected against who I play against. When I played against Thousand Sons he's just out side of assault so I kind of have to slog up to him but FNP works wonders! While against Space Wolves well He ran in between my WWP's to assualt my Grotesques (different list at the time)

There not useless there just 1/6 angry and dead.

I thought about it but my problem is then I would have to sac a Ravager (I only own two Raiders but I have a quick way of converting a Raider into a Ravager). Also I don't feel Grotesques need 3 Pain tokens to start out with since they should have a hamie with them. They just need furious Charge.

Yea I am on the table about mandrakes since I want to use them and make people believe there usable but.... I Don't know. Thought about using them to screen my units. So there like basically meat shields, but I don't think it would work to well.

What about this?
(Deployed)
Hamie 1 & 2 = Venom Blade, WWP
4xBlasterborn (they don't get out ever.)
Raider w/ FF

4xBlasterborn
Venom w/ Splinter Cannon

Ravager w/ FF

(reserves)
Baron
9x Hellions = Helliarch w/ Stunclaw
10x Wracks = 2x Liquifiers, Acothyst w/ Scissorhand
10x Wracks = 2x Liquifiers, Acothyst w/ Scissorhand
6x RJB = 2x Heat Lances
3x Groteques = Liquifier, Aberration w/ Scissorhand

I take as many separate units I can manage due to my usual horrific reserve-rolls.
Why not split the RJB in 2 units. If u get shot at, 6 RJB get killed nearly as easily as 3 - but your enemy needs 2 units to shoot your 2 3xRJB.

Another point are the Haem-lacking grotesques. If they have to walk they might kill half of your Army and then get removed. perhaps drop them and use the points to field a second Ravager or another 3 RJB w/ Heatlance.

Lately I field each of my WWP-Haems with 5 Warriors w/Blaster in a Raider and pop my Blasterborn thru the WWP the next round (if I manage the reserve-roll). Most of the time my Blasterborne then get at least one shot at some armour before being wiped out by massive fire.

So blasterborn out of a WWP has been working for you? I tryed a unit of warriors with a blaster and they just kind of died without doing anything.

My Reserve rolls have been fine except that day i forgot 294pts worth of reavers. The game was called at turn 5, but they didn't show till turn 6 T_T still won though.

The grotesques should be fine by the time they come out. When I had them escorting the Hamies they just became targets for every enemy. Something about three hulking creatures jumping out of a raider midfield made my enemy go. kill it! nuke it! make sure there dead!! I'm hoping that my enemy sees two IC with no ranged weapons and decides he's too good to shoot at them so he looks at the other higher priority options like my AT.

3 or 4 Blasterborne coming out of the WWP on turn 2+ are likely to have some armour in range (24 inch radius thread bubble) - and be able to kill it. Of course you have to place your WWPs aggressively.

4 Blasterborne = 1 Ravager pointswise. So if you want to to kill Tanks on round 1, field a Ravager. If his armour has to move up to your lines, Blasterborne coming out of a WWP have the unbeatable advantage that they can't be killed while on reserve.

Besides, having a bullet-soaking, slow hulking "Horror"-Unit (aka Grotesques - is it just me that wants to shorten Grotesques to Grots?) advancing to your lines is a big psychological thread - people tend to panic and shoot that unit - but the rest of your army survives...
