By no means do I consider myself any sort of expert gamer as I have only played a half dozen games or so with my DE at 1,000 points.
My list has been like this every time:
Hamonculus, Liquifier Gun, Venom Blade – 65
4 Blasterborn, Venom, Splinter Cannon – 173
10 Warriors, Blaster, Splinter Cannon, Raider, Flickerfield, Grisly Trophies – 190
5 Warriors, Blaster, Venom, Splinter Cannon, Grisly Trophies – 130
9 Wyches, Shardnet and Impaler, Hekatrix, Agoniser, Raider, Flickerfield, Shock Prow, Grisly Trophies – 210
Ravager, Flickerfield – 115
Ravager, Flickerfield – 115
Total: 998
Except for one game against Tyranids with a whole mess of monstrous creatures I used disintegrator cannons. I should also mention that all of my games have been against either 'nids or IG. The IG player is new to both his army and the game, so I generally tear through him pretty well (except for last night). The 'nid player is a more experienced player than me and has a lot of experience with his army, and every game we play is close. I think we have a fairly even split between each other.
Last night, the IG player and I had a pretty good game. Pitched battle deployment with KP's. It was pretty much back and forth the whole game until I managed to pop the chimera his company command squad was in and assaulted them so I could stop eating plasma in the face. I digress.
The common theme in each of my games has been the more aggressively I use the Wyches, the more damage they do. The warriors have never really done a whole hell of a lot. I generally want to stay away from the idea of tailoring my lists to particular opponents, but it seems to me like wyches can be downright mean, especially once they get a pain token or two. So, how viable are wych heavy lists when considering all possible opponents?
Another question I have is about how to deal with monstrous creatures. It seems like disintegrator cannons certainly can get the job done. Would it be equally/more/less effective to just dump loads of poison into them?
I'm working at getting all 1,000 points painted before I expand or start playing games at shops with a larger variety of opponents. That and I'm at school right now so I don't have access to other opponents really other than perhaps and Eldar player if he ever gets some free time.
So far, the only things I really struggle with are vehicles and monstrous creatures.
So, thoughts? Tips? Bacon?
