The Cult of Khaine Ascendant

Aww shucks guys, cheers for the feedback.
I just finished my Hornet (an upcoming tourney allows some IA units, and I couldnt resist!)
I have played a few games with the hornet and it is a great value little gunship that can outflank and cause some nasty surprises. Also, I play a BA player regularly so expect to see more BA wreckage/trophies showing up on bases in the future.

As you can tell im trying to make the craftworlders as barbaric and 'let loose' as possible to reinforce the Khainite theme. No disciplined pacifists here!

I love the rusty, gory touches on these. Not only do they work, but they're believable and well-done!

Thanks, it has kinda evolved that instead of a cult symbol as I was planning originally, the visual element uniting the models has become anointing their vehicles with blood both before and during the battle, so even the flyers and less spiky vehicles get their share of the blood.

Not to mention it ties all the models together fairly well visually on the tabletop.

My cult has basically the same idea. There's something about slathering on blood that just seems *right* for Dark Eldar.

Beauty, pure beauty. It shows the Dark Eldar art of war off in all of its glory.

I love those Reavers so much that I wouldn't just stab you in the back to steal them, I'd stab you in the chest! (That's a compliment as far as DEldar go!)

Newly finished war walker squad, Im starting to use the glowing orange engine vents as a bit of a theme across my vehicles

Awesome as always. Drooling at the thought of playing with allied War Walkers

And while I'm at it, here is one of the objective markers im working on. simple colour scheme to make it striking.

The poor avatar was one of my first models years ago, so its nice he will be used now in every game (although not as im sure he would like)

Great stuff! The orange glow in the engines really liven up the otherwise simple bloodsplattered metal. The poor Avatar has seen better days I'm sure, but you've still done a very good job with the objective marker. It's one to die for!

Warlord done! Tourney is only a couple of weeks away, so im racing to get my other units done



I still have:

- Ravager
- 2x Razorwings
- 25 x Kabalites
- Aegis defence line

That's a fine looking warlord! The lighting is a bit too bright to properly see all the details, though - he comes off as being a bit shiny. I'm sure it's just the case of a model looking worse in picture than in reality.

Sexy warlord. The base is over the top(which is perfect ) I agree that the lighting in the pic washes a bit of the detail out, but judging from your other work I can tell that this is one hell of a mini in person. Best of luck getting all of the to-do list done in two weeks

I love the look of this army! Very creative and great use of effects like the OSL on the gems and the dried muddy blood on the vehicle prows!

Forgive me if this was asked already, but what is your recipe for Blood?

I'm working on a coven army and would like to muck up the weapons

No worries Lucky, for blood I get a pallette and mix up some mephiston red and some old red gore with a little black (I have no patience for ratios, so I just mix till i get what I want) then use a thin brush to create the splatter effects.

Also, I have been watching a lot of dexter lately, so that helped with the splatter patterns

Once the blood is painted, I wash the model with seraphim sepia and then over the blood areas with carroberg crimson as that gives it a darker clotted blood colour.

Back in painting mode - this is my Eldrad conversion, I have taken recently to running him in a blob of 20 kabalites with the duke behind an ADL. I will post up my painted kabalite blob and razorwings soon

My favourite are the reavers, but those war-walkers look cool too!

I painted these up a while back, and i rarely take a list without them.

It think it would be alot of fun a visual pleasure for your Korne, I mean Khaine Cultists to meet The Coterie, on a raid... Awesome job.

ramtastic these are some really impressive models. I am both mortified and mystified by your blood splatter on your various vehicles. Particularly looking back to your first Viper you posted, as I'm really trying to find a technique that would create this kind effect, would you mind sharing your process? Even if you had the chance on a upcoming vehicle to show a stage by stage paint job for a mini tutorial would be awesome!

Wow, I really missed updates from this log! Your rogue Eldrad looks fantastic from top to bottom, I'm constantly impressed how savage you can make the regular Eldar models look. You totally got the right idea - Khaine brings out the very worst in Eldar, and your models really show that, often enough looking more bloodthirsty than their Commorrite kin.

The Razorwing is also fantastic, I really like the metallic weathering on the wings - it's so fast that the paint is peeling off on its own!
