The warriors look nice and clean. I don't see any flash on them, and it looked like you were off to a good start. Its a shame you did not finish them. I do look forward to seeing the final photos.

As I said, camera troubles prevented me from completing on time. Here's a shot of the finished squad.

And an individual close-up.

I'm not 100% please with the red or gold. I'll probably go back and shift the gold to bronze and darken the red. Any constructive criticism would be welcome.

I'll be staying out of round 3 as I don't have a Heavy I'm ready to paint and I've been working on my models from other armies/games.

I do like these very much. And I am thrilled you finished and submitted for us to look at.

The only thing I can think of with the gold is maybe it is not deep enough and looks bland. Its not easy to tell from the pictures.

What I used to do when I was using gold is use the Old GW shining Gold, or you can get the Vallejo game color equivalent, then wash it with the old GW Brown ink, or Chestnut if you have earliest set of colors. Its a reddish brown color and looks really nice.

Then go back and clean up the gold and it looks fantabulous.

I think a good go by color for now as a wash is P3 chestnut or flesh wash, or you might try the GW flesh shade color in the current line, but ideally you are looking for a dark reddish brown shade color to really make the gold "pop".

Yeah, I'm also not entirely happy with the gold. I think I'm going to try to get a color I'm happy with using the new Citadel paints.

I do have about half a pot of chestnut ink from yesteryear but I'd be loath to use it on an army project of this scale because I'd surely run out and then I'd be screwed. Unfortunately, P3 (or anything from PP) is unavailable in my area.

Anyway, once I've figured out the gold I'll post something in the painting section of the forum.

Thanks for the comments.

I think it looks really nice (in fact, including the gold) - the highlights are looking great, both on the armour and the guns - however, what I think is almost the most important thing to fix, is the bases. Accurate bases improves the look of models several times over.

I'm currently working on sculpting cobblestone and autumn bases depicting a raid on an exodite world.
