| I'm considering making the Crucible my 'go to' wargear on my Haemonculi. What are some of your opinions or tactics now that the psykers are most likely going to be coming out of the woodworks. I noticed a lot of talk about allied Farseers. | |

| Crucible is still overpriced an unreliable. If it alwyas had 18'' range and forced a ld test on 3D6, it would be good. As it is, the range is very random and every psyker has ld9 or 10 anyway so they're not likely to fail their test. | |

| I have used the crucible a couple of times and can confirm the above.
Its a bit of fun that might pay off once in a while. Certainly not to be relied upon.
Psychic defence is either a Farseer with ROW or relying on the 6+ save.
Im going to try and run without a Farseer initially till i can assess the impact myself.

| I'm all over Eldrad Ulthran - going to rename him and reclassify his fluff though to become an exiled dark eldar practisioner who sells his skills to those who dare...
On topic though, I do think that Mastery Levels could help aid your units defence VS psychic powers being cast: if you mastery level is higher then the enemy power is 'dispelled' on a 4+ (or 5+ if theyre the same or higher level than you - but as level 3 is the highest...) This is useful to us and my idea would be to have Eldrad in a forward supporting role (he's not bad in combat and pretty resilient: esp with the re-rolls from Fortune or the Divination spell...!)

| Problem with using him in a forward supporting roles is that you can't stick him in a Raider since allied units can't board eachothers transports. And even if he could, he can't use most of the powers out of it as in 6th only witchfire powers can be used from a vehicle. | |

| I know that Raiders obviously would get him to the front lines quicker (if he was able to use them) but it isn't a requirement: 6" per turn is still ok by simply moving forward. | |

| @beans no, thats way to slow in an army that moves 12"+per turn. yep, ultran isnt fleet XD the most powerful space-elf and he cant even run propperly on topic: if you want psy defense, use marines librarian with hood, or farseer with ROWa | |

| Hoods are crap now. Before the new Eldar Codex Farseer with ROW and Rune Priests will be best psychic defense. | |

| I'd go with a farseer sooner than with those overgrown mountain dwarfs. on the farseer psyblock item, ROW isnt enough, for someone who knows the list will ask: is it a R(unes)O(f)W(arding) or (itnessing)? And a noob will not ask, just see you using the abilities and go: howd ya do that ROW, se its in the dex, then the other effect ROW see its in the dex.
ROWa is warding, ROWi is witnessing. I learned this the hard way.

| Runes of Warding. Enemy rolls all psychic tests on 3D6, and any result over 12 causes perils (as per FAQ. The codex states roll psychic tests on 3D6 and discard the lowest, but it got buffed at some point). | |
