| So, after thinking over a bit of 6ed, I think I have an idea. I know mandrales are typically the laughing stock of our codex, but with the new rules, I can see using em. Now I need someone to back me up ( or possibly knock the stupid outa me), but is it not that bad of an option? Now, this is the one stipulation that I'm attempting to unravel, but aren't we able to deploy our units with I.c. units of another army? If so think about this, run baron and Hamilton in our force org HQ slot. Run eldrad under eldar HQ. Start eldrad with mãndrake company, then pull the old baron, wrack / hami hellions pt switch. Switcheroo, meet mandrake + eldrad, leave a pt, shazam! Lol, just a thought anyway. Input daka | |

| Or just infiltrate a haemy with the mandrake, give it a the jezzail gun and the liquefier and you got a nice shooting with good cover squad that can easily go to close combat. It even had survability to the haemy \o/. | |

| I know, this is the idea that got me goin. I agree, this is a viable plan, but what about the eldrad plan? Give him some bodyguards with Inc save of something at least, he'd IP close with his psyker abilities, baron drops off The PT for a 5+++ save, and allowing the baleblast! Maybe turn two, but with sufficient infiltrate cover, and leaving at least 1pt for hellions to stay somewhat resilient with the already stealth unit. This to me sounds too good, but I need some serious input. I'm really considering this elite slot due to my incubi nerf. | |

| Unfortunately, ICs that do not have Infiltrate, cannot be granted Infiltrate by their squad. No infiltrating Haemies with Mandrakes, I'm afraid. | |

| Baron + wracks = paintoken. Hami + hellions = paintoken. Baron + hellions = 2 paintokens. Eldrad infiltrate with mandrakes. Hellions drop a paintoken to mandrakes, mandrakes gain baleblast + psyker buffs from eldrad. | |

Seems a lot of faffing about in order to get a pretty mediocre shooting attack made slightly less mediocre. | |

I actually remember something about independant characters not being able to get infiltrate from the squad =S, other units does but noone would be able to go with mandrake neither give them a pain token .... =( | |

| Too complicated, just start a farseer on a jetbike with a unit of wracks, first turn, turbo boos the pain token over to the mandrakes, second turn, boost back to whatever squad you want the 'seer with (or have them meet up with him somewhere), I suggest RJB's or shining spears to team up with him.
You can even start a haem with the RJB's to start them with a pain token, then after the seer moves away from the wracks, move the haem over to the wracks. Presto, pain tokens for everyone! | |

Correct. "Sharing the Pain" only applies to units that have Power From Pain. For example, if you had Eldrad Ulthran with a unit of Wracks that have 2 Pain Tokens, and he leaves the squad, the tokens stay with the Wracks. | |

| as i understood, "share the pain" was when a charecter leaves the squad you divide the tokens equaly( or choose to leave the extra. | |

| So, this thread is effectively redundant? Pain tokens can't be carried by non-DE models and ICs cannot infiltrate with Mandrakes - regardless of whether from the DE codex or another...
I have no idea what FAQ you are referencing about IC's being able to join infiltrators - I cannot spot that being mentioned anywhere...
Nice idea - I wished it worked (I REALLY want to make Mandrakes work because I love the models and the fluff for them a LOT) but sadly I can't see them being that great: apart from having a WWP Haemie fly forwards on turn 1, move and join a mandrake unit that is sat 12" outside of our deployment zone (so they gain a pain token), deploy the WWP and then fire Baleblasts at the enemy on turn 1. | |
