| Haywire blasters are quite good now at taking away Hull Points, so I though I could take away my Blasterborn (or at least 1 of my 2 units) to get some Scourges.
But then I realize that only 2 out of 5 scourges get the HWB, and the thing becomes expensive with 10 of them, even when compared to the cost of 4 blasterborn+his venom. I'm paying near 100 points for 18 poison shots at 18" instead of 12 at 36", apart from switching from blaster to HWB?
Well scourges can move 12" and shoot without penalty... blasterborn get nearly the same as before (unless they disembark only up to 6+6 inches away now, and they shoot from the transport moving 12", but at BS1).
Also, 10 scourges--> 10W, 4+, 6++, and FnP if infantry unit is wiped out. And 4 blasterborn --> 4W, 5+ (how many times will you get FnP, unless you hunt MCs?) + 2HP from his venom (5++)
What do you think? It's worth it? Also, as I play 30 wyches with HWG upgrade, do I need BB or Scourges are better due to duality, mobility and survivability??

| I think it's worth it. Haywire is better at taking out high armor stuff and the range of the haywireblaster is 24 rather than 18. Blaster born are better against somethings though. The deciding factors for me are how amazing the scourges look and which slot each fills. The leet slot has other stuff i'd rather take than blasterborn. | |

| My dice hate dark light technology, so I have always much preferred Haywire. I like the extra range and better chance of actually doing something with the HB's, and as Bibitybopitybacon syas, the Scourge models are just too cool!
I often take one or two squads of 10 Scourges and I think Jump Infantry will be a lot of fun in this edition, so i will be sticking with them.

| Well, those Paladins are still there. And blasterborns are still best at killing them. | |

| Scourges are my bet in 6th. As long as you don't roll a 1 (uncommon, but not unheard of) you could theoretically wreck a Land Raider EVERY ROUND. 4 rolls of 2+ after hits equals minus 4 hull points equals dead (insert vehicle here). Not to mention that it can PEN on 6s.
Haywire Blasters also have range on the Blasters (24" versus 18"), Scourges have better armor/invul saves, and Haywire Blasters don't have to worry about a Black Templar LIst (in case you didn't know, they can ignore lance rules, making it near impossible to pop their Land Raiders with darklight weapons).
I think the best thing is that you don't have to pick one or the other...one is fast attack and one is elite. Take both and watch your Imp Guard opponent cry in the corner.

My thoughts exactly. They're not competing for the same FOC slot, which also means that taking both means you don't need to fill up your Elite/FA slots with anti-tank and have room for a few other units like Reaver Jetbikes.

| I prefer blasters on anything that I want to kill that has High armor. 5+ to pen or 4+ glance plus they are great at killing anything with a 2+ save | |

| I think that variety is the spice of life: with a theoretical increase in meta changes which predicts an increase in 2+ save armoured infantry, I think that blasterborn will still likely need to be more prevalent than Haywire Scourges - particularly as 2+ armoured characters are likely to be a right pain in the bum for us too: we need units that can deal with vehicle armour and the liklihood of increased heavy infantry too. Of course, I'm not saying that a unit of Scourges is impractical (far from it!) but I think that a unit of 5 with either dual haywires or (my preference of...) dual heat lances will be the way to go with perhaps dropping just one blasterborn unit to afford the points to do this... | |
