| As I'm going about starting my DE I've made several purchases from GW and my local gamestore...the experience has been very annoying. To start with I was shipped 4 Lysander miniatures instead of my Grots and the finecast Incubus, Archons and Haemonculus were very poor quality. One of the Incubi was so poorly casted that half of his head collapsed as I went to deflash it...apparently it was just one huge air bubble. Most of the others are missing details or have vital components that have just snapped off. This has been a very frustrating day for me. Anyone else having an unusually high amount of trouble with finecast Dark Eldar? I've bought many finecast miniatures in the past and haven't had this bad of an experience before. | |

| I've never had a bad experience with my finecast characters. My Incubi, on the other hand, had a couple of issues, but the replacement box was great. | |

| Don't get me started on Failcast. I've had a <50% success rate with that crappy stuff. | |

| I have had nothing but good times with finecast. My Incubi's klaives got bent, but that was my fault. | |

| When in doubt send them back, GW always seem to replace misscast. | |

| You can also call them and tell them. They will send replacements. GW have obscenely good customer service (which they should, because I pay them a premium). | |

| Indeed. I've never had any shocking problems with Finecast. The worst I have experienced are minor air bubbles and warped weapons. These are rather common but nothing a bit of liquid greenstuff or hot water hasn't easily fixed.
If you do get a model you're not happy with, send it back and ask for a replacement! When GW swapped to Finecast as a result of rising tin prices and the advantages of the new medium, they expected their to be many minor defects on their models and so they are producing them in much larger quantities than the metal models to provide any swaps. They are aware of the problem, planned for it and that is why they are not only happy to swap but also encourage people to do so.
I think its also worthy of note that although Finecast is more expensive than metal short term, in the long term metal would have risen to be more expensive.
I have this information as a result of thinking through it myself, asking GW staff, attending the White Dwarf seminar at last year's UK GD and also from Natfka's blog on faeit 212.

| I've had shocking poor results with failcast. The box of Incubi I bought was total bogus. I have a thread about it here somewhere. | |

| just send them back, they replace everything. And yes, I have had some bad failcast, others I have had have been perfect, it all depends on when you get it I suppose | |

| Worst I've had was a Harlequin with the tube of the Harlequin's Kiss missing. I got a replacement model from GW and fixed the original one by using an extra Chronos proboscis, so I effectively got an extra Harlequin. Also some of my Wracks had pretty big air bubble,s but they were on the underside of their arms and other places where you'll nevr look, so I didn't even notice them untill I had painted them. | |

| They are replacing my items and they didn't ask that I send the defective ones (or the 3 Lysanders) back. As frustrating as finecast has been for me I can't complain about GW's customer service. | |

| No, but complain about a poor product you should! As some one wrote on another forum the FC'ing of models reads like the obituaries. | |

| My Incubi models had their Klaives bend really badly and detail missing on the back racks. Called my local GW and instantly got replacements, so Im not complaining and other failcast have been some of my Harlequins, but they were only minor and were easily repaired. Im still waiting for a finecast prdouct that will make me throw up in disgust. | |

As some one wrote on another forum the FC'ing of models reads like the obituaries. Believe me, I do find it annoying that a good 75% of the finecast stuff I get has something wrong with it that will either require me to do some greenstuff work or get GW to replace it. I'm still holding out hope that they will somehow improve the product as a result of the seemingly massive problems and the fact that they are replacing a lot of miniatures. I won't hold my breath however.

| I have 2 finescast models, one had a repairable amount of damage on the cape, a bunch if air bubbles. It wasn't a disaster but still, when I'm paying such a ridiculous price for what is essentially a few grams of moulded resin, I expect it to be moulded well.
The other model, an Isabella von Carstein was disfigured beyond recognition, her nose and the right top quarter of her face was replaced by a crater, her dress was full of bubbles too and her sword was curved. Suffice to say I took it back and was given a new model and pot of paint too for the inconvenience, which was nice.
