| Short question, which might be silly.
Let's say I / you have a unit of reavers and give it either a blaster / heat lance / grav talon / cluster caltrop and a arena champion.
Do you then put the blaster / heat lance / grav talon / cluster caltrop on a separate model or on the arena champion, and if so, why?
Relevant for assembling models...

| You would put the Gun and Bladevane accessorry on the same model to give you more 'cannon fodder' to soak up wounds on before losing something important. You cannon however put them on the Arena Champion as he has his own wargear selection seperate from the unit upgrades that do not include these options.
At least that is my understanding of the way it works.

| personally, no. I dont think that was ever an intention.
Sadly... there are arguments about that yes, you can. infact we have one going on right now in another thread.
Most tournaments dont allow it, and before it was a bad choice as your leadership pip and heavy weapon could of been sniped out with one bad wound allocation, now its better because of being able to keep it alive longer due to LoS... which makes it a well worth tactic
Would I model it as such, no. Would I do it? maybe... if GW confirms you can (and I need more than a vague Ork FAQ...)

| I put them on a separate model as in my gaming group and the tournaments (mostly local) I have attended say you can't give those weapons to the arena champion (In my experience this has been the consensus on sites like warseer and 3++ is the new black).
On the other hand people on this site have been saying you can give splinter cannons to sybarites and heatlances to arena champions (Same thread shadow mentioned).
I wouldn't do it before I see confirmation from GW. But it's really up to you.

| As I often kill the champion when I'm down to 3 models (as I like having 3 lances). If the champion had the lance then I would be able to keep him alive until the end (as long as I don't get outmanoeuvred that is). Also precision shot is funny on a heat lance.
Challenges in general become scarier if you are risking a lance as well as the champion. Also sometimes you want to sacrifice the champion in a challenge to keep the rest of the squad alive (and then run away next turn).
So If I could I probably would, as keeping 3 lances and LD9 is nice and a precision shot heatlance is handy.

| I do this very thing. More reavers going down before my heat lance or caltrops for no extra points (because I want the champion anyway)? Yeah, it's always worth it. | |
