| I wanted to see how everyone is feeling about allies at the moment and whether our army is catering to allies as much as others. Personally I like the idea of adding some Eldar as corsair allies but will be waiting until the new Codex is released. | |

| I do like the idea of using Craftworlders, just to paint the models, but I never will. I only want pure Dark Eldar, mainly for fluff purposes, but also because I started collecting DE because I wanted DE. I didn't want to use Craftworlders or Orks or Tau, if I did I would be collecting them as seperate armies. | |

| I would ally Eldar if there were suitably fluffy troop options in their dex. Atm my list is headed by Drazhar+incubi with a very melee heavy focus, i'd love to take an avatar to tie in with my melee khaine cultish vibe, but no eldar troops really fit that build, and the link is tenuous enough without adding some troops that don't fit well.
Next Eldar dex, perhaps I will ally!

| I have been using them here and there. I find that I need to have a good plan to use them in my list or they will be wasted points. | |

| I don't as of now, but I fully intend to use an allied Eldar force consisting of a farseer and a few Pathfinders as soon as I have converted some. Allies to me are as much a valuable addition to our arsenal, as they are a wonderful opportunity to convert nice models. I love them and will try to incorporate them into my lists as much as possible. | |

| I voted for Pure DE. I find that most people take allies to counter weaknesses that their armies have. Makes sense for most, but doesn't sit well with me for one reason: If you are taking something to cover up for a weakness (psychic defense, shooting advantage, etc), you are spending points that take away from your army's natural strengths. In order to take that Farseer, you must also take a a troop choice. This has taken roughly 200 pts from DE units that are designed to work with each other. I was initially against the idea of allies in 6th edition until I played against armies using allies. I found that my opponents tend to get distracted by using their new toys and get away from the strengths of their armies. This isn't to say that allies can't used competitively; far from it. I must admit, rules for allies were the gateway drug that gave me the excuse to start buying Corsair models from Forge World | |

| Ive been using them on and off. DE are an amazing army, but I think Eldar add a few elements that help well. (Farseer being the main choice, also GJB being scoring fast units) That being said, pure DE is still amazing, and will always be my main army. | |

| I think I will use allies in my other armies, but as I do not own any craftworld my DE will remain pure. Interestingly my LGS has baned allies. I find this strange and is probably a knee jerk reaction and I anticipate they reinsating allies in a few months once things have calmed down. | |

| yes: anti psy, obj denial, great tie-up unites, good shooting, effective transport hunters, great HQs, loads of fun, psypowers, TROOP JETBIKES, wraith unites, the best transport for its points in the game, weapon spam, warp spiders. no: overpriced, being a very old dex.
conclusion: i beat GK with my eldar lists, adding them to my DE for anti psy and some shooting they are effective and good, making short work of a dreadknight, great harass, but need tactical placement and usage. I take!

| oh, one question, if i use double forc org, can my dfoc hq join the primairy armies unites in transports before the game? They arent allies, just a different force y'know. If they can, then i have a solution to all my problems with eldar combined with DE, and that will make the perfect balanced list i can muster from my "massacre'em all" mind. | |

| AFAIK, the second FOC is treated as part of the primary detachment. Of course, it still has to be from the same codex! | |

| I think in dual FoC you can take two allied detachments, so you could in a big enough game run both Craftworlders and Corsairs as allies. I'm not sure how useful that would be, but I like the idea.
"What army are you using?" "Eldar." "Which ones?" "ALL OF THEM!"

| Maybe I'll take a farseer and his archons someday ( already have them ) and will use rangers and why not my old-version rocking WraithLord =).
But I need more points for that, and I still have to DE-expend !

| I voted no, but perhaps one day. I think the Eldar codex is in dire need for a new edition. The point costs are appaling. Perhaps I would like Rangers one day, and a twisted farseer, or perhaps corsairs as a crossover, but right now it will be tight as hell just to put down a 1500 point list the way I wrote it - a mass of miniatures means a lot of painting to be done... Still 3 raiders/ravagers, 4 venoms, 7 reavers and 30 infantry to buy and paint, at 25 euro per box and one purchase each month, means: ask me again later... | |

| I really like the allies rules. It is certainly something to take both Dark Eldar and Craftworld Eldar to fight Chaos or Necrons. Differences set aside to battle their eternal and ancient enemies to prove the galaxy that they still are superior. | |
