Hi All,
So there is a tournament coming up at my local game store. Tournament rules read as follows:
"It's going to be pretty straight forward with scenarios from the book, given that many people have played very few games of 6th edition.
"One little twist we're doing, though, is you gotta have some Allies. Yep, two books worth of dudes on your side. The minimum is 1 Troops choice, so you if you don't want to bring an Allied HQ, you don't have to, and other than that, the Allies Force Org will be the same as in the book. Unfortunately, Tyranids cannot take an Ally, so they're exempt from this rule.
"Also, so we don't muck up the terrain, no Skyshields or Fortresses of Redemption allowed."
This is the list that I've put together"
HQ
Succubus w/ Agonizer 85
Farseer w/ Jetbike, Singing Spear, Runes of Witnessing 103
Elites
x4 Incubi in Venom 143
Troops
x10 Kabalite Warriors w/ Blaster in Raider w/ SR 185
x7 Wyches w/ HWG, Hek w/ Agon & PGL in Raider 184
x7 Wyches w/ HWG, Hek w/ Agon & PGL in Raider 184
x5 Rangers 95
Fast Attack
x6 Reaver Jetbikes w/ 2 Heat Lances 156
Heavy Support
x2 Ravagers 210
x1 Razorwing Jetfighter w/ Flicker Field 155
Plan is fairly straightforward: Generally, the Farseer will cast Prescience on a Ravager then his unit of RJBs will Bladevane over something. When entering "Tank Hunter" mode, the Farseer will cast Prescience on the RJBs, which gives us two twin-linked Heat Lances and a Twin-Linked Singing Spear.
Everything will zip forward as quickly as possible, trying to abuse terrain if possible. Surround and engage the enemy, preferably near one of their home objectives.
I've used this rapid assault/envelopment strategy before to great effect. I know that I'll be facing Tau, Imperial Guard, Grey Knights, Ultramarines. Tyranids, Space Wolves, Orks, and other Dark Eldar might crash the party.
Thoughts?
