Golden Demon UK 2012

Ok, unfortunately I was unable to make it even past the first cut with my entry this year. My excuses would be very high standards, improving year after year, coupled with over 150 entries and at most the top 50 being selected just for the first cut. However, the fact of the matter is that I simply wasn't good enough, although I'd like to think I was close. Of course I have only been painting about 4 years and this is only my 3rd ever entry into Golden Demon so I have plenty of time to improve and catch up with those vastly more experienced than me. C&c is greatly appreciated!

I agree, you've done a very good job on Urien. A shame you didn't get any further, but don't let that bring you down. Use it as motivation to improve and do better next year!

I wouldn't dare critique this at all, I'm painting Urien right now and it's like night and day.

Thanks for the comments guys! I am happy with it and proud of what I've done as it is easily the best painted single mini I've done to date. I could have done the metal better given more time and I'm not entirely happy with the glass, liquid, armour or gauntlet. Still, I shall indeed learn from where I went wrong and use this as motivation for my entry next year.

I don't yet have the skill to paint a single model to a high enough standard but I'll be giving a squad a go. Current plan is 10 Legion of the Damned wuth blue flames and a generally cooler tone to create a more different, ethereal look. Of course, depending on when the Eldar get updated and what their models are like I may end up doing them and I have a feeling some new Dark Eldar special characters could tempt me into doing a single mini again.
