The recent history of this Kabal is known to many kabalites, used as a cautionary tale to those who would defy Vect and his Kabal of the Black Heart. Since its earliest inception commorragh has been host to this ancient organisation, though it has taken many names. Few now remember that the Icesoul Brethren, the servants of Arcanix and most recently the Kabal of the Frozen Heart are in fact descendants of one of the most ancient of all noble houses, house Kal'Yleath.

Since house Kal'Yleath split in the ancient history of the 20th millennium Commorragh has held the midnight tower built by the dark muse 'Arcanix the blasphemer' who, if the Kabal is to be believed, founded their new dynasty in Commorragh. The midnight tower was the base of the Kabal's operations until it was destroyed during the Space Marine invasion of Commorragh in M35. A replica was built soon after, and subsequently razed by the Kabal of the Black Heart after the fall of the Frozen Heart.



Eldar from the Frozen Heart are commonly drawn from many areas around Commorragh. Every so often the Sybarites of the Frozen Heart gather up aspiring members. They are taken before an altar to Arcanix and required to renounce all other ties and loyalties. Once this has occurred the candidates are bunched into groups and given to the local wych cults, with the provision that the last 9 survivors from each group are returned to the Kabal. Each Sybarite then takes a group as his charges. They are sworn into the Kabal, and undergo the changes common to the dark eldar of the Frozen Heart.

Dark Eldar of the often disappear for some months following acceptance into the Frozen Heart. When they emerge they have all the physical features that mark out an individual as a member of the ancient order. A kabalite will project an unsettling aura that chills and numbs the spirits of his peers. His breath is frigid, and hair becomes bright red. Most unsettling of all, when the battle-lust is upon him his eyes fade milk white, becoming pale orbs that seethe with otherworldly menace. Despite these physical traits the kabalites of the Frozen Heart are often fierce and hot tempered, and many a raid has been lost or won due to sheer savagery, impulsive action and burning determination.



The Kabal of the Frozen Heart began existence as one of the offshoots of house Kal'Yleath, and retained the name for some time. For a few hundred years house Kal'Yleath sought empire and conquest in realspace, gaining dominion of a few score star systems known as the jewel stars at the height of their power. At the beginning of the mass exodus in M30 house Kal'Yleath used the disorganised and frightened early craftworlds to their advantage, plundering the craftworlds at will. This eventually backfired, as this brought swift retribution from one of the oldest and most established craftworlds. To make matters worse for house Kal'Yleath a large portion of the population of this craftworld were descendants of the other group that came from the original house Kal'Yleath schism in M20. The resulting brutal war between house Kal'Yleath and craftworld Kal'Yleath ended in the destruction of most of the realspace empire when the craftworlders used preserved technology to create a new star that consumed the heart of the commorrite empire. A mere fifteen years later efforts to rebuild we're thwarted, as the realspace empire was utterly destroyed during the fall of the eldar. In the wake of this the realspace empire was abandoned and house Kal'Yleath turned their eye to the quickly growing city of Commoragh at last.
