hey all! I am new here and I am so glad I found you over here, I have recently sold my Templars due to getting bored with them after 4 years of playing them (and fighting the recent nerfs that just make no sense and gimp the army even more) and decided after some good thought that I needed a change away from the imperium altogether, thus I am here.

I have been over on Dakka Dakka trying to get a list together but it just seems that all they suggest to play is venom spam over there and I just don't want to do another MSU type list, I really like the idea of raider heavy pirate fleet, so that is the feel I am going for with this list, i know there is one venom, but it has a specialized role within the force and I am forgiving this one, I am also pretty sure I want the razorwings, i love the models, and am in love with the ideas of finally getting to have a flyer in my codex, so anyway, without further ado, here is my best incarnation of my hopefully soon to be dark eldar army:

Not going to say venom spam once don't worry!
Its nice to see a themed piratical list! Just some pointers though and small cahnges that you should make to experiance dark elder properly- i think!
1) Drop the chain snares and torment grenades (I know they are cool ideas especially for a pirate fleet but you would be better off with Nightshields for the same point cost. If you are gunboating then they will be very useful to help keep them alive!
2) Don't put your warrriors in close combat, they are not as great as they sound unfortunatly! There strength comes from shooting!
3) Give all your wyches haywire grenades- makes them fearsome cc opponants and deadly anti tank units!
4) Put the reavers in one squad, they are better in large groups
5) Try the heat lance, it tastes like rainbows and brings home the bacon
6) You need to remove the exact point costs or they will get removed by the admin Razz

I am new to DE as well, and working on some preliminary ideas, but having played for a while a couple thoughts:

1.) what role is the 9man trueborn doing? I don't see it, and it makes me think a different unit would be better here.

2.) Agree with Grub: Units of 3 toughness 4 bikes are likely to get torn up without doing much of anything, even with a great cover save. personally think you need to run reavers in units of 6-9 to have them be effective. and take his advice on the vehicle/unit upgrades, drop the ones that have little utility and get haywire grenades

3.) I don't believe Flicker field on flyers does anything... they're going to get at least the same cover save from their movement, swap for nightshields...

I'll try and help a bit.

Duke: I'm a bit biased but he's awesome.

Gunboats: I agree with all of Grub's points, it doesn't need a Sybarite or the upgrades, just racks and night shields.

Wyches: I've struggled a lot with them in 6th, haywire has got so much better though. Again I wouldn't worry about vehicle upgrades and the agoniser isn't as good in 6th either, thats 30 points right there if you go for venom blades instead.

Trueborn: To answer pantofful, Duke rides with the 9 man unit, giving them all a 3+ poison. With that unit I'd go shardcarbines or bust, I'd rather just run him with a Warrior squad as its scoring. The other unit is cool, works well, could look at just running 3 and losing the upgrades.

Reavers: Not much experience myself but I wouldnt use the grav talon, doesnt seem worth the points. Put some anti tank in there.

Razorwings: Answering pantofful again, they need flickers as they dont get a jink save for moving, only if they evade which would make their lances hit on 6s and not fire any missiles, flickers let them take 5 ups and act normally.

What would I use the saved points on? Can't beat a Ravager for reliability. Hope some of this helps.
