Hekatrix w/ Venom Blade + Hydra Gauntlet

Can you give your Hekatrix Hydra Gauntlets and replace one with a Venom blade? Would you choose between the two in combat or could you have a Venom Blade with +d6 attacks?

I'm new to DE and the hobby in general, so my apologies if this is readily evident to other players.

No you can't have both on the same model. Putting aside the issue of putting squad weapons on the squad leader (many people don't think this is ok), the Wych weapons (like Hydra Gauntlets) require the wych to give up her pistol and CCW. The Hekatrix's Venom Blade also requires her to give up her CCW. She can't give the same one up twice, she only has one to give away.

And as an aside, two different weapons don't stack like that. If (this is just an example, I've already explain why this is impossible) she did have both weapons she would have to choose which one she used in a given fighting phase, Venom Blade or Gauntlet. Their effects don't combine.

Thanks, for the info. The Hydra gauntlet entry says it counts as 2 ccws, and the venom blade replaces only 1 so I thought it might be possible to replace 1 gauntlet. The wych weapons entry also only mentions models not squad leaders, so I hoped shenanigans might ensue. I didn't know whether or not Hydra Gauntlets count as specialist weapons, though, which would answer whether or not their effects could mix. I think...

In any event, I really appreciate your insight. Either way it seems a little too shifty to be practicable.

1. A model with Hydra gauntlets counts as having got two generic two close combat weapons, but they also grant a special rule, so they are not generic close combat weapons, after all and so can't be traded for a venom blade. Furthermore sets of weapons only confer their special rules, if used as a set. One Hydra gauntlet doesn't do anything.

2. Yes, the Wyches entry says 'model' so the Hekatrix could take one of the Wych Weapons, but IMHO it just doesn't make sense, since there are better options, that don't count against the Wych Weapons allowance.

3. Wych Weapons aren't specalist weapons, but a weapon set. As mentioned above, they are one weapon rules wise and can't be used separately.
Additionally it doesn't matter, because the specialist weapon rule just won't let you use a non specialist weapon to get +1 attack. You can never combine different weapons special rules, specialist or otherwise.

That makes sense. I thought there might be an out considering how the Dreadknight's Nemesis Greatsword rerolls apply to it's Doomfists in their latest FAQ. Thanks again.

Well, there is some point with Shardnet, at least Hekatrix can Look Out! wounds coming for her instead of just dying with weapons.
